Kansas fans rushed the field after beating Rhode Island. That is not a joke. I repeat, that is not a joke. A Power Five FBS team, playing at home, beats an FCS team, playing on the road, and the fans rushed the field. LMAO! And for anyone who doesn't know what FCS is, it is the same division formally known as I-AA. That would essentially equate to Group of Five FBS school like Ohio beating a D-2 school. Yes I know it was their first win since the 2014 season, but that's simply comical. The PA announcer was actually reprimanding them for running out onto the field (also not a joke, this also happened) because it was an embarrassment. Has a Power Five (or BCS) team ever beaten an FCS (I-AA) school before and had the fans storm the field like that in the history of the sport?? If that doesn't sum up the state of KU football then nothing does.

If they beat OHIO, they'll have a campus-wide riot and be burning couches like what we see in Cowtown after a big victory.

This is the wrong week to trash talk any program for any reason.

Are you confusing objective reporting for advocacy journalism? ;-)

[Sorry, I don't have the right emoticon to express sarcasm.]

One, that was far from "talking trash," and two, it's pretty damn funny. Or at least ESPN, Bleacher Report, Sports Illustrated, etc., all thought it was since I saw it posted everywhere with actual video.

Was at a MIZZOU game when they beat Nebraska, first time in a long time, fans pulled down the goal posts, broke off the uprights and took them away. Not sure if this is true, but, I heard there was a bar where they were cut into pieces for keepsakes.

The Missouri-Nebraska game was a BCS/P5 vs a BCS/P5 matchup and certainly understandable. It's not like fans never rush the field, it happens all the time. But a P5 team rushing the field after a win over an FCS school? Kansas may be the first.

On top of it, URI was 1-10 last season.

Last week, somebody ran a story about how important it would be for Purdue to beat 1AA Eastern KY at home. Granted Purdue was 3-9 last season, but EKU was only 6-5. I guess when your program is tanking, you grab for any ray of hope you can.

Opinions here in KS are pretty split on the subject. It was a small part of the student section that rushed, and were booed by the rest of the students.

Embarrassing that it went viral, but oh well. We are used to taking shots from the media/other fans.

This is kind of throwing stones at a glass house. We're great at rushing fields of play for no real reason, especially on the basketball side. Our threshold is basically any game that goes to overtime, any game that is televised, and any team in the MAC East regardless of how much they suck.

I was part of a modest crowd who rushed the field after we beat Buffalo in 2002, giving Knorr his first home victory and breaking a 10 game losing streak. It was only the second win in 16 games.

It was sad, but seemed fun at the time.

Worst part of today for Kansas...they have to play Ohio again next year in Athens where they're gonna lose again.

I have to agree that there are 5-6 teams in the MAC that would beat them easily.

Watching CMU vs Okie State I think the Chips are at a much higher level than our team.

Bunch of Bitches. We win, you bitch, we lose, you bitch. What will satisfy some of you? I'll continue to watch Bobcat sports because I'm a Bobcat. If you would prefer to root for another team who never loses or is perfect every year - go spend your thousands on Ohio State - and good luck, hope they don't disappoint you. Thy will.

Kansas would finish towards the bottom of the MAC West and in the middle of the MAC East. KU is a Power 5 school by affiliation only. Thankfully they basketball.

I'd love to see our remaining 1804 students rush the field at the end of a game some day...the KU folks that showed up at lest stayed to the end. We should never talk about opposing fans!

I still continue to pay and watch.

As to your quote I'd be careful with those comments. Ohio is going to need the capital pretty darn soon to compete with Miami. If you haven't heard, their alums got tired of getting its butt kicked and are on a 100 million dollar athletic campaign. If you really want me to go back to supporting my undergrad Alma Mater then be my guest. The fact that I came to Athens and can openly root for the green and white more than Michigan's little sister (trust me I could write a post on this for those interested), I'm gonna tell ya be happy or else my money can gladly go back to that school in Columbus and can once again be a part of the stat that more money from OU Alums go to their university than OUrs.

I want to throw my money towards Athens to make it a team that can win a MAC Championship, let alone go for bigger in other sports. The problem is at some point we're gonna get to a point where it's pony up or get left behind. I would simply say that message should have been on full blast when Appalachian State brought the house to Alabama. Unfortunately, by the time we realize we need to do so, we will be too far behind to catch up.

Clearly the answer is for them to drop football to FCS and join the MVC.

Actually six home next year, the schedule on BA has UMASS in Athens but it is actually in Amherst.

Some distortions here. Ohio for the past 20 years has a combined 40-50 million into athletic facilities with the football program by itself getting 30 million of it. It was a gradual investment over a number of years. Miami didn't make the same level of investment over time so it spending 100 million in today's dollars to catch up to what Ohio has spent. There is no stat where OU Alums are donating more to OSU than Ohio. Ohio just finished a 500 million dollar campaign recently. I doubt many OU alums buy OSU season tickets. Watch OSU on TV quite a few do that but they aren't spending thousands on OSU tickets.
