...As an aside, L.C., your assessment that you are not worried about our qb situation (only 1 guy had game experience before this year and he'd only thrown 53 in-game balls) is unfathomable to me. QB is far and away the most important position in football. How can you not be concerned with barely-played backed up by never played at all? Combine that with our recent history of undistinguished qb play--the present guys were behind/judged less worth than very average talent at best--and how can qb not be a significant concern?
I have seen Windham play, and I believe he can get the job done. I'm also very impressed with Maxwell. That's why I'm not concerned. From stats alone, Windham had a very good game in his first game as a starter. I continue to not be concerned about the QB position.
I am, however, concerned about two things. I'm concerned about the continued use of the Cover 4, which so far seems to have been a failed experiment, and I'm concerned about the DB situation. Nothing in the first game did anything to alleviate either concern.
This is a team with a lot of talent, and they should win a lot of games. The offense showed that they can put some points on the board. No, Irons is not (yet) as good as AJ, nor is Dorian Brown, but both have tremendous talent, and need to step up and play. The loss of AJ saddens me, but does not concern me.
The defensive backfield situation (both formation, and lack of experience) continues to be my only concern.
