No, you are correct. I believe it was designed for that purpose. More space and easier access to the field. I’ve never heard the reason for moving them up to the middle of the student section.

No, you are correct. I believe it was designed for that purpose. More space and easier access to the field. I’ve never heard the reason for moving them up to the middle of the student section.
I'm sure the reason is we don't draw dick and a full band section makes the stands look better.

We're using the full band section to show teams that we're worth it to command $5M per game to play us.

We're using the full band section to show teams that we're worth it to command $5M per game to play us.
I'm being harsh, because we out draw our MACtion peers by a fine amount in November, but still, it looks better when the student presence is surrounding the band.

If I Had to guess at a secondary reason, i imagine the band hated the field level endzone seats. You can't see s**t from there.

JSU is a really good team. Luckily, I think they play right into our hands with how much they run. 267 yards a game under Rich Rod. 2nd in the nation behind Army.

OU's run defense is 5th in the country - 95.8

They also score a lot - averaging almost 37 a game. They lost by 2 to WKU. Then turned around and beat them by 40 a week later.

Gonna be a run battle. Defensive line really gonna be tested.

The spread went from -3 to -5 off of the coaching news. With no one in the transfer portal, a coach hired from within, and how well they played in MAC Championship -- My gut tells me you take OHIO (big) and lay the points.

That would be nice as OHIO already has the longest bowl winning streak in the nation. Much better than those other streaks we had back in the past century during the two Wilderness Campaigns. I seem to remember a year when we tore down the goal posts after we won one game to avoid a winless season. Any other old timer remember that? Know what year it was?

Lichtenberg's next to last year. We won two straight home games so the goals got torn down twice.

I remember once during the Cleve years we upset Toledo at home and one dude hopped up on a goalpost but no one joined in. Still took the OUPD like five minutes to get him down.

Were those at the very end of the season? What I seem to remember was that this streak-ending victory was the last or next to the last game of the season.

1993. Yes, a win against KSU and then a win against Akron during Halloween weekend in what I remember was a very cold and rainy day.

There was a great quote from Hank McElhaney in the AP story after the second win. Something like, "If our students want to keep tearing down the goalposts after every win, our administration will happily come up with the funds to erect new ones."

We SPANKED Toledo, which I believe had the nation's longest winning streak at that time.

One of my buddies used to tell a story about the Pitt win at home in 2005, saying he saw some kid get absolutely wrecked by a security guy when trying to get on the goal posts after Dion Byrum took it back to the house.

We'll, need a row of portapotties inside the stadium gates somewhere because the restrooms you referenced are totally inadequate to accommodate this size crowd, given the way Mountaineers like to drink beer, and other liquids they might smuggle into the stadium.

Last time we were at Camping World Stadium, we needed overtime to beat MAC brethren UCF before that program had any kind of pulse.

Two very similar teams in that both are run first, although we're more balanced. Ohio runs about 62% of the time (528 rushes to 317 passes) while JSU is almost 70% runs (611 to 280). They average 267 ypg on the ground, so if our D holds them closer to our defensive average (96 ypg), it'll be big. They give up rushing (170) about as much as we get (187). The teams have similar passing stats: Ohio 187 ypg on offense and 200 ypg on defense; JSU 177 ypg on offense and 215 ypg on defense.

JSU has a big edge on TDs -- 61 (48 rushing) to Ohio's 46 -- and tunover margin -- Ohio is minus 2 while JSU is plus 9. But Ohio has given up fewer TDs (26 to 38) and has nine more sacks.
