Lost a close one today in DeKalb to Western Illinois. Wow. Never thought I'd see this.
Piggybacking off a post LC made recently, it's interesting to look at what Rod Carey has done there. Real QB problems there with Hare injured.
Thoughts on how they'll fare in the West this season? They draw BG and Buffalo at home and Kent on the road from the East.

NIU has always been able to reload at QB, even with midseason injuries. I guess Carey's recruiting hasn't been so good lately. I don't know whether they've had other problems.
If Hare can't return, NIU might as well write this season off. They'll have to go 6-2 in the MAC just to get to a bowl game. That means they'll have to beat either Toledo, WMU or CMU, assuming they win all their other MAC games. They face WMU and CMU in the next three weeks, so things will have change quickly.

This could be 0-7 with upcoming away games at Ball State and Western Michigan before returning home to face a tough Central Michigan team.
