I hope that he gets lots of reps this weekend versus Gardner Webb.

I am a fan of Greg Windham but we need a back-up with game experience. In the past we have waited for a comfortable lead before inserting a young QB.

I hope that we use him in spots earlier in the game so he gets meaningful reps against their first line players and he gets to work with our top offensive unit.

I like his size and mechanics putting the ball up.

I agree, let's seem him on the field. If Windham gets hurt, he's the man. Next year, Windham will be gone, and he'll be the man, unless one of the incoming Freshmen beat him out.

I haven't seem much game film from him, but I am excited. Saturday could be a great time for him to get some snaps!

He has never taken a snap in a game while at Ohio.

High hopes that he can step up if and when needed.

I understand the need to play Maxwell, however, if Windham is not allowed to establish respectable numbers vs this opponent certain Ohio fans will look back
upon his "mediocre" performance to lay blame upon him, Albin/Solich and probably Burrow too.

Yep. Still needs some polishing but it looks like he has the physical tools.

Thought he ran the offense well. Positive first showing from him, he's a serviceable backup for the rest of the year!

Maxwell didn't do anything today to convince me that he can't be the player that I have believed he can become:

His passing rating of 211.6 isn't bad for a first game, either.

based on the small sample size today and the assumption that he continues to develop I am not opposed to the idea of Maxwell running the offense for the next 3 years.

lets not hand anybody a starting job yet. He will be in a battle next year, he will not be handed the reigns based on one game against Gardner Webb

No one is handing anyone anything, and there are two QBs coming in in the fall who plan to compete for the job. The most we can say is that he's looking good so far, and we hope he continues to improve.

Of course he will need to earn the spot. That said, I saw some things from this young man that make me excited about our QB situation. Windham is our guy and he's doing a very solid job. It's nice to finally see we have a viable 2 deep QB position. Maxwell can play.

What I saw from Windham and Maxwell - Are some Receivers who can pull down some well placed/thrown Contested receptions! (the floaters from both not so much)

Before his red shirt season, TT played in a home game, perhaps his first test. He threw a pick when he was flushed to the left and tried to force one back into the middle and was picked clean.

Young Maxwell had already thrown two TD's. What was the circumstances of the later pick by the defense? Tipped ball, off target throw, forced one into coverage?

He basically tried to throw a jump ball for the receiver (Elijah Ball, I think) on the right sideline of the end zone. The defender made a really nice play to kind of take it away.

I thought Maxwell was decisive. He did a good job on his reads in the running and passing games. The game didn't seem to fast for him vs. this opponent. I agree with UpSan's assessment of INT. From my far, but open angle it looked like a jump ball over our receiver's left side. If it's over the side toward the pylon/sideline, it might've been a TD. Very close play.

Growing pains. In practice, Ball vs Ohio's young DBs, they get away with that. So very glad he learned this lesson in this game.
