Topic: MAC East no longer the worst division in colege football

C-USA East now claims the crown of the weakest college football division. Saw that on a Marshall fan board, so it must be true. Actually, I think C-USA West looks even weaker to me. Marshall fans are, understandably, flaming all over the place after the loss to the Mean Green on Saturday, and are engaging in some hyperbole, but the fact that they are talking in these terms is interesting.

C-USA as a whole is just flat out unpredictable and erratic. Southern Miss was believed to be the frontrunner in the West and they just got boat-raced by a pretty bad UTSA squad. Middle Tennessee looks like a runaway in the East, but who the hell knows.

Once the Big 12 figures out what the hell it's gonna do, C-USA is probably going to just dissolve and the teams will filter into the AAC, MWC, MAC and Sun Belt.

Amazing evolution and devolution of this conference. Got its start as the old Metro Conference which was a pretty good B-Ball conference back in the day. Good example of how the focus on football has changed(in this case ruined) the collegiate athletic landscape.
