Special Teams Player of the Week: Ohio P Michael Farkas
Ohio redshirt freshman punter Michael Farkas (Mishawaka, Ind.) had six punts for 232 yards averaging 38.7 yards per punt in a 17-7 win at Miami. Farkas pinned Miami inside the 20 three times during the outing including pinning them on the one-yard line late in the game, which led to Ohio’s sack in the end zone which sealed Ohio’s win. Farkas also gave his punt team adequate time to hold Miami to only a single return, which netted zero yards. Farkas ranks seventh in the MAC in punting and Ohio ranks first in the MAC in punt return defense and third in the country.

Love this kid. Love Zervos. Love Chip Hale. If only we had these guys with Tyler Tettleton's crew. How were we so bad at punt snapping and punting that one year?

The best part of Farkas and Zervos? THREE MORE YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad we have a talented punter, but this award (along with Zervos' prior win) says as much about our disappointing offense as it does about our talent on special teams.

They still have to execute, which they have, at the level worthy of recognition, which says a lot about them and their coaches. It is not dumb luck that these gunners are killing these kicks at the goal line. The offense was disappointing vs Miami, credit to Miami. We will see if BG can take away #6, if BG can pressure Windham like Miami. I doubt it. Here is hoping Ohio's defense can continue to put points on the board. That is fun to watch.

His punting has helped set up at least 9 points this season. He also dropped a punt on the one vs Kansas that led to the safety.
