a reminder of last two seasons-

2015: L 62-24. Game decided Division winner.
1. BGSU(7-1)
2. OHIO(5-3)

2014: L 31-13. Game decided Division winner.
1. BGSU(5-3)
2. OHIO(4-4)
No need to remind me. But these things would help me forget:

1 - Basham, Sayles, Aloese, Laseak, et al in the BG backfield all day.
2 - Poling, Moore, Brown locking down the BG running backs.
3 - The OL making correct adjustments from last week and getting a good push up front.
4 - The BG defensive backs getting thrashed trying to bring down Bo, Maleek, and Dorian in the open field.
5 - An OHIO "W"

Please provide an example of me "pumping up" Ohio. I expect you will find me "repeatedly" defending Ohio's players and staff with their own stats.
Um. Wouldn't that be the same thing. I'm not saying your falsely pumping up Ohio...but you defending them (no matter what)...I'd say you feel pretty highly of the Bobcats.

Therefore, I'd expect you would expect a win vs BG.

And what improvements has BG made.....a 77-3 loss to Memphis followed by a loss to EMU at home. Memphis >>>> EMU....so a loss to EMU, no matter how close doesn't exactly resonate as great improvement.

If you go with that train of thought, then your alluding that Ohio is getting worse because since that close loss at UT...they didn't dominate GWU and struggled in a win at Miami.

I never said Ohio never needed to dominate BG. Go back and read my initial post. I said they just needed to win...whether it's 10-9 or 56-10. This is a game Ohio should win.

I'm past the point of looking impressive. Bottom line, this team just isn't that good. But the East is absolutely dreadful....and Ohio can easily be the best of this dreadful division. Winning the East is absolutely a distinct possibility.....but only if they win these games vs. lesser competition like BG, EMU, Kent, UB & Miami. Akron is the only team in this division that should be competitive with Ohio.
This is all about your one statement that "BG is playing terribly." No question, they were, as of their last game, they now are showing signs of a pulse. Fans and players who ignore this do so at their own folly. I remember losing a significant wager on a similar game about thirty years ago. Lessons I have learned the hard way I never forget.

"And what improvements has BG made...?" Already answered, but, alright, "BG "right now" is in the process of righting the ship. New QB, last week, scored 25 while Ohio scored 17. One game, MAC only stats, show BG tied or ahead of Ohio in every offensive category. BG was playing terribly, until last week, vs 4-1 EMU BG allowed 0 sacks, lost 0 fumbles, had only 4 penalties, rushed for 200+, passed for 250 and ran 89 plays. Ohio is not the team it was a few weeks ago, neither is BG."
Look...do I think Ohio could lose to BG....hell yes (see TxSt). But for you to try and build BG up like they're a team on the rise is absurd. This is a bad football team right now. Have been all year. Did they play better vs EMU than they did vs Memphis. Duh. Yes. But they lost AT HOME to EMU. Read that again. I don't care if EMU is 4-1...they blow. And yes, Ohio playe awful vs Miami. But the defense looked strong. What about BG looked strong last week? Or any week? They're a mess. Ohio isn't good enough to look past anyone. But this is a game they should win hands down. This would be a terrible loss.

Ohio already has a terrible loss and the wins are against terrible teams as well. I have no idea if our offense can score points from one game to the next. I'm assuming that the defensive debacle that happened against Texas State will not happen again, but I have no confidence about that either. I can't figure out this team right now. So, I'll just take any kind of win and move in to the next one.

One other thought, our injuries have muddied the situation quite a bit. Can we get healthy?

OHIO 35
BGSU 14

BG plays 8 in the box, and Windham has a great day via the air route. Maxwell is in for a few series and does well.

Ohio 37, BG 21. Why not? 44 assumed I expect an Ohio win. Truth be told, having played, coached, administered and followed the game since the sixties all I care about is a good game without injuries.

Why can't we just put a freaking team away? Just once, make the one play that ices the game.

And where the hell is our defensive front today? They are getting absolutely destroyed.

In the conference of really bad teams a mediocre team can be champs!

Our team did not play well today. Too many execution errors, mental mistakes and lost opportunities.

the sacks really hurt their rushing avg and those were coverage sacks. They were gashing us up the middle...a lot. And their qb had tons of time to throw. That was a shitty team that we let hang around and we almost paid the price. 7 second half points against the worst defense in the nation. I'm glad we got the win and 2-0 in the mac is fine but god, this was not a good performance.

BG is a much better team than some people have given them credit for. One reason why they're the worst D in the nation is that they faced two high-powered offenses and got completely nuked. Take away those two games and they're giving up only 20-some pts per game against MAC-level opponents. One problem with their D is that their O has been completely putrid. Morgan is starting to turn that around. I'm glad we caught them today instead a week or two from now.

Plus you might add Papi & Dorian & a re-injured Maleek. Covering was not important. Winning without needing to put Papi & Dorian on the field.

-Ohio scored 13 more than last week.

-Four sacks.

-Three ints.

-GW 20/27 = 74%, 1 TD passing, 1 TD rushing.

-Smith back.

You want me upset about something, well, 9 penalties for 100+ is disappointing.

Papi did play one down in the 4th quarter in which he was used as a decoy. I believe it was a scoring play.

He was on the field for a TD. I didn't see a player go down today. Any word on that? I think Ohio may be healthier in week 7 next week than they have been in a long time. I'm sure that we have not been anywhere near this healthy since 2011.

I thought Irons got hurt on the first series of the second half. Took a shot on the sidelines and never came back.
