WMU beating Illinois 24-7 so far. Could be their 2nd straight road win against a Big 10 team.

It would be the second consecutive year a MAC school did that as BG beat a pair of big teams on the road last year (Maryland and Purdue).

I hate to put Akron in the mix, but I agree. We can be the best if our db's tighten up.

What you're critical of Albin and don't support Ohio? [response if I'd posted 'CMU, too']

Also, stop over-rating our talent. Ignore my wisdom at your own (no one else's) peril.

Akron can't beat Ohio to save its life. What's it been now, 8 straight losses?

I don't really think any of the East team's are in the same class as Western Michigan, Central Michigan and Toledo. But fortunately for Ohio, that's OK because ultimately Ohio only would have to compete with one of those teams in one game.

I agree. West is clearly superior as it is home to the MAC's top 3 teams.

Akron looks very athletic. Somewhat raw and undisciplined. Good team speed and a lot of playmakers.

True, and I agree, but they also can't beat Ohio. It's in their heads every year, to the point where their players openly talk about it the week prior to the game.

Exactly. And upsets happen all the time in the MACC. Akron over NIU, Buffalo over Ball State, Miami over NIU to name a few.

It's hard to tell how good Toledo might be. They don't play a "P"5 team this season and so far their opponents are a combined 1-9. Their game at BYU in two weeks should give us a better idea.

This looks like the worst NIU team in a while but one has to figure that they are still top among the better teams after the top three

1-3. Toledo, Western Michigan, Central Michigan
3-7 Ohio, Bowling Green, Akron, Northern Illinois, Ball St.
8-13 Looks like some pretty bad suckage. Buffalo is probably looking the most disappointing. EMU actually collected a 1A win today.

Stop It Don't be the kind of negative guy who discounts our winning % because of the quality of our oppositions.

Water boy, aren't you smart enough to see the difference between his post (balanced and accurate) and yours (baseless and biased)? Have you ever attended an OU game, btw?

Please explain how a post which opines (accurately, I believe) about the quality of the teams in MAC is more accurate than points which I make.

No one's responded to my 'normalized' analysis year by year of our 2013, 2014, 2015 in which I disregard the cupcake games (the 'suckage' type teams) and state our record, noting the large losses to peer teams. Achieved by a staff in its 9th, 10th and 11th years. Maybe you'd care to do so--so that I can better understand why we have not mediocre?

Isn't it easy to blanket slam but more honest and refined to engage in specific analysis?

Your supposed 'normalized' analysis is anything but normal. You can't cherry pick what data to ignore. By doing so you create bias in the data set. Why throw out the easier games? If you do that then you need to balance it and throw out the harder games. That then leaves you with the average teams. You can't arbitrarily throw out data and suggest the resulting analysis and conclusions are valid in any way, shape or form. So I suspect that's why no one has responded to your biased and totally invalid analysis.

Western and Central are the top so far simply based on the names on who they have defeated. Toledo will be in the mix in the West too...they could beat Northwestern and Illinois. Northern may be down a little from past years but don't be shocked to see them win against someone they shouldn't. Western may be ranked in the coming weeks.

If the Western boat keeps rowing like it has been Fleck will probably be on a different sideline next year with a thicker wallet.

The East looks like Akron and OUr Bobcats right now but I won't count out BG just yet. We need to stay healthy and hungry. I saw a strong effort against Tennessee yesterday and hope we see that same fire when the names aren't as big or the lights not as bright.

Glad we get Akron and BG at home. Need to dish out some payback to the Falcons and State Polytechnic Institute University of SUNY New York of Western New York at Buffalo.

For what it's worth, TeamRankings is showing Ohio with a 47.5% chance of winning the east, followed by Akron, at 32.3%. They only give the east a 14% chance of winning the MACC, though. Toldeo, CMU, and WMU are their favorites, in that order.

Let's win one game at a time, and see what things look like in November.
