Grode--is there a good football coach out there with that last name?

I thought you wanted exciting football! If so Grobe is not your answer based on his time in Athens. Don't get me wrong, I like Grobe a lot. He came in and ran option football and rarely passed. It was run after run and then run again. When behind we still had to run because our passing game was nonexistent. It was pretty boring, something you claim is evident in our present regime. He did it to give us a fighting chance to compete with inferior talent. It worked pretty well, but no better than present. Come on Monroe, you gotta do better than this if you want changes.

They never won MAC titles either. Groce did win multiple tournament titles.

Grope--good one.
Groce's success--I don't think anyone would argue with that.
Grobe overcame a lot worse than Solich has and those were exciting teams. The win at Minne, thrashing Herd at Peden in his last game, being about even (ahead?) of OSU at their place a handful of minutes into the second half with a true freshmen at qb (a qb about 5-10 and 165 lbs).
Yes, the lack of passing under Grobe was a deficit. But his teams had talent and played good ball. Boring was not a word associated with his clubs.
