So it looks like Brogan Roback is the starter for good now at QB for EMU. He was suspended for the first two games of the year, then he and Todd Porter split time over the next few games. Roback led the game-winning drive over Wyoming and played decent last week against Toledo.

Should be an interesting matchup this week. Normal EMU teams would have been blown out by Toledo.

We will need to bring our best effort to win this game. The team is not talented enough to beat anyone just by showing up.

Are any of the injured players expected back for the game? Especially any running backs?

The one thing we know about EMU is they are better than Bowling Green. It may be a blessing in disguise that Ohio didn't close the BG game strong because its keeping the team hungry for improvement.

Poling possibly out for this game. Will his injury affect our D?

Curious about this- I did not see his name listed anywhere on the list of injured players during the game.

Roback was a 4-star recruit, for what it's worth, one of the few in the MAC. The first two games EMU was not that different from the EMU of old. The last four weeks EMU has been much improved. Teams with a good QB and a passing oriented offense are always a concern to me with the Cover-4, and I note that EMU has allowed very few sacks this year.

They are a team that has the potential of becoming bowl eligible. To become bowl eligible, EMU needs two more MAC wins. Let's make sure this isn't one of them. With the game at Ohio, Ohio should win this, but it's not an automatic win. Creighton has quietly done a very good job at EMU.

I'll pick this one Ohio 37, EMU 31.

No mention of any injury during the Solich press conference today.

Poling was also the guest on the radio show tonight. Everything seemed fine and he said he was ready for this weekend.

Win this one and at Kent next week and we should be in good shape to win the division, with Nov home games vs Buff and Akron. This one won't be easy. They have a big, experienced O line that could cause problems for our D.

I know this sounds silly, but I think I would actually take the loss to Kent if that meant a win at Toledo.

Curious now about Poling. If nothing else I believe affect was used properly. Always tricky.

I know we haven't beaten Toledo since before Katie Holmes was born but I'd rather beat everyone in the division. Gives us a winning MAC season and the tiebreaker on everybody. Wins over the West won't be easy for East teams, so having that tiebreaker is huge to get into the MACCG.

Not quite that long. Last win vs. Toledo was 1988. Last win at Toledo was 1967. But you're right that the key is winning the division games. Win those and Ohio is set, especially with a win against Eastern Michigan this week. Akron has non-divisional games against Western Michigan, Toledo and Ball State.

Coach says he looks at Eastern film and sees a team very like his own Ohio. So I see this being Roback vs Ohio's D or Windham vs Eastern's D. Give Windham his full compliment of tools; Smith, Reid, Cope, Papi, Irons or Brown, Mangen and I like Ohio's chances. Those who require style points will be disappointed. Should be more an old fashioned Big 10 type game. Ohio 30, Eastern 20.

Well if you're hoping he'll have a full compliment of weapons.....you'll be disappointed. Doubt we see all of Cope, White, Irons and Brown.

I think Ohio wins.....I don't give two craps about style points.....but this is a pivotal game in a quest to win the dreadful MAC East. Could be the game that tips the scales in Ohio's favor vs. Akron.

Small point, but, I wrote "Irons or Brown."

Good. I still have at least a year to prepare my eyes for that gray field on our next trip to Rynearson. I tried watching the Toledo/EMU game on the Apple TV last Saturday and my wife asked why I was watching the game in black and white. It gave me a headache five minutes in.

I feel like a gray field is something the Soviets would've heartily endorsed. Big concrete stands, gray field, a giant-headed Stalin mascot with a stern look and a hammer in one hand, sickle in the other. No applauding. Marching band goose steps and an ICBM parades down the hashmarks. Every game ends in a glorious 0-0 tie. The pretzels...not chewy. Served with a side of off-brand ketchup. They bring the vodka to your seat, though. There's that.

I agree. I don't care if we win by 50 or by 5. As long as we don't suffer any more injuries and if we can win by 5 without Papi, Brown and Irons then I am good with that. Cope as well. I say get Belack and Ball some time anyways..and maybe even Odom. Let Bo run it up the gut 35 times. Hit Smith, Reid and Mangen with 5 yard gainers. Let Zervos and Farkas win field position and let our defensive front pound their line into submission until Roback gets nailed 5 or 6 times. Let Hagan do his damage in the defensive backfield and watch our trio of linebackers wreak havoc. Win ugly and save your injured guys. We will need them for the late season push. When healthy I really believe we can get Toledo, CMU and Kron.
