For what it's worth, here are the year to date passing stats:
Windham 120-214, 56.1%, 9 TDs, 3 Ints, 5.99 yds/throw, Pass Efficiency 115.9
Maxwell 29-42, 69.0%, 3 TD's, 2 Ints, 8.76 yds/throw, Pass Efficiency 156.7
As for yards on the ground, it's:
Windham 78 carries, 350 yards, 4.5 yds/carry, 3 Tds
Maxwell 10 carries, 42 yards, 4.3 yds/carry, 0 tds
I have been a supporter of both Windham and Maxwell for a long time. I like both of them. Windham has done some very good things this year, but he's also been erratic at times. I can easily understand why the coaches gave Maxwell a try, and Maxwell has also done some good things.
Another reason to consider playing Maxwell is that Windham will be gone after this year, while Maxwell has his career in front of him, and experience gained by Maxwell will carry forward to next year and beyond. If Windham is clearly better, he should be played. If they are equal, I'd alternate them, or lean to the younger QB.
In any case, the answer to McQueen's question would obviously appear to be no. Ohio didn't do much better in the 2d half against Miami than they did against Kent, and Windham did not get pulled, presumably because Ohio was ahead. The situation against Kent was similar, and the coaches behaved similarly. Against EMU it was quite clear that Maxwell played better, so I don't see any controversy in him getting the start against Kent.
