This week 17 more teams became bowl eligible, so there are now 37 total: USF, Houston, Tulsa, Temps, Clemson, L'ville, UNC, VaTech, Baylor, WVU, Okla St, Okla, Mich, O$U, Neb, PSU, Minn, Wis, MTSU, WKU, LaTech, WMU, Toledo, OHIO, Boise, SDSU, Wyoming, Wash, Utah, Colo, Wash St, TxAM, Bama, FL, Auburn, Troy, App St

23 teams need only one win for eligibility: Memphis, Navy, Wake, FSU, Pitt, GaTech, KState, Iowa, MD, ODU, SMiss, Akron, CMU, EMU, AFA, NM, AZSt, Stanford, USC, Tenn, Ark, LSU, Kentucky

25 teams need two wins: UCF, Cincy, SMU, NCSt, MiamiF, Syracuse, BC, TCU, Tex, TxTech, NWern, Ind, NTex, UTSA, BYU, Army*, BSU, Colo St. Cal, Georgia, Vandy, SoCar, Idaho, GaSouth, SBama

(* ̵ Needs seven wins to be eligible)

So 85 teams are either eligible or need to win half or fewer of their remaining games to be eligible for one of the 80 bowl slots. That's up seven from last week.

Here's the rundown of the above list by conference (bowl totals don't include the 6 at-large bowl bids):
AAC (7 bowls): 4 in, 5 others, 9 total

Big 12 (7 bowls): 4 in, 4 others, 8 total
Big 10 (8 bowls): 6 in, 4 others, 10 total
CUSA (6 bowls): 3 in, 4 others, 7 total
Indies (1 bowl): 0 in, 2 others, 2 total
MAC (5 bowls): 3 in, 4 others, 7 total
MWC (7 bowls): 3 in, 3 others, 6 total
Pac 12 (7 bowls): 4 in, 4 others, 8 total
SEC (10 bowls): 4 in, 7 others, 11 total
Sun Belt (4 bowls): 2 in, 3 others, 5 total

Quick Lane, if either the ACC or B1G can't fill their slots
Poinsettia, if BYU or MWC can't fill their slots

So it looks like the ACC (assuming a top 6 bowl) and MW won't be able to fill at a minimum. BYU another chance. Not bad odds to get 7 maybe 8 in.

Cincy will have to play out of their minds to pull two wins out of that remaining schedule IMHO. Tuberville sure has done a fine job driving that program into the ground. Sad to see considering that program has more resources at its disposal than ever before (albeit modest compared to a lot of other deep pocket programs).

Have always been a Bearcats fan and a part of me almost hopes they lose out just to have a full deck to stack against him so they can justify handing him a buy-out check and a suitcase. It's in the best interest of the program long-term in my opinion. All on-field momentum built by Dantonio-Kelly-Jones is pretty much lost. Need to be careful not to lose the fan base that was built over the past decade as fans in this town are exhausted considering the poor product and failures in the post-season by the Brown Family Bengals and Castellini Reds.

There is no reason they should not be in the upper tier of the AAC and should not be blown out they way they have in most conference games this year. It's one thing to lose by a touchdown. But they had 11 yards of offense in the second half against the Fighting Pink Boas of Temple on Saturday.

Ok, I feel better now. = )

Tuberville always has a way of pulling just enough out of his rear end to survive. I think he'll get two of the last 4, win a bowl game, and get another year.

Agreed - all of this. And they had ZERO first downs in the second half Saturday. I'm mighty happy I wasn't able to see that game.

There's no way in hell he should get another year, and I have doubts that he will. The majority of fans are in favor of unloading him. The way he's handled the QB position isn't a gold star moment for him either.

UC has the opportunity to be the most popular game in town during the fall and winter if they get it together. The Bengals currently aren't winning new fans, that's for sure. Keeping him is not the way to send the right message to the fans at this point.

His new buyout probably won't make you super happy.

Living here in The Nati I can tell you they have had enough of this guy. He spends more time on endorsements than a game plan. No way he gets another year. They may go back to the MAC and try to steal Fleck. If the buyout is too much, the story could change. If I were UC, my cards would be played with Fleck.

I'd be amazed if Fleck went for UC. I know they can pay more than WMU but jobwise it'a a lateral, and potentially more difficult. He's already built up a non-power conf 5 powerhouse, not sure why he'd want to do another.

Purdue may be a little gunshy about hiring the latest trendy MAC coach.

Fleck would be best served to go to a team that has underachieved the past few years but are in relatively good shape overall in terms of resources, winning etc. That needs someone to take them up over the hump and to the next level. If he goes to the wrong situation he will get a big payday but will be out of a job in 3 years or so just like Hazel.

Looking up and down the MAC Fleck is by far the best bet to be hired away. But I won't be shocked (but not excepting) if EMU's Chris Creighton isn't lured away by someone. He's my choice for MAC Coach of the Year if the Eagles finish strong. Their final 3 games are winnable. Probably need to finish 8-4 for him to really catch some attention. At a place like EMU that's impressive.

But other than these two I don't see any other chances for someone to be hired away. Lots of coaches have been plucked away in the past few years leaving a lot of newer staffs.
