While I'm VERY encouraged at the prospects of having Maxwell for 3 more years, there is room for improvement. He continues to fail to see safeties on his second-level throws. Buffalo dropped 2 INTs last night and the throw to Ball was essentially a jump ball. He has the tendency to force the ball into the end zone. But I think those things come with time. The other pieces are there. Ability to run, arm strength to fit ball into tight windows over the middle and on the sidelines.
Agreed.

If he gets more accurate, then he can become a superstar, right now he is a gutsy adequate QB. Max, take it week by week, work on those reads.

Interesting to go back and see how folks on this board reacted to his signing (small school, weak competition, only offer, WTF).
I'm always excited when we recruit a guy out of the middle of nowhere because there's always the chance he got overlooked by the power conferences and we landed a good one. It doesn't always work out, but from a fan perspective it's fun.

As I watched Maxwell last night, I couldn't help but think of Austen Everson. I also kept thinking to myself that we are seeing the coming out party for Maxwell. Like many of you, I have always thought the one position that Solich has never really recruited a superstar is QB. I know its been one full game and I know he made some mistakes as a RSFr is going to do, but I really think Maxwell is the "Superstar" QB I have been waiting for an could just take us to the "next level". By that I mean multiple trips to the MACC.

If he continues to develop, I agree. He has a natural thing that we haven't seen in many OU quaterbacks: he has what looks like a natural quick release. I also agree with the gutsy portion of the Everson comparison, but as a passer, he's a lot better than Austin was in my opinion. He's definitely someone to get excited about watching for the future seasons.

He has a better arm than Everson, but their accuracy is the same. He has 3 years to improve into something special.

To be clear, I do not think he is a Superstar now. I do think he has the potential to develop into one over the next few years.

WMU, CMU, and NIU are now the only MAC teams with senior starting QBs.

Earlier we saw him under-throw resulting in ints. Next, we saw him, being overly careful, over-throw open receivers. Next, like a field artillery battery working with a forward observer, he gets on target. I have not yet seen Maxwell throw anything better than I would have expected from a healthy Windham. Maxwell is getting better and still has a big upside. Me, I am just glad he has a good group of receivers and a solid OL.

Best group of receivers in the nation. An OL that rivals the Dallas Cowboys' line. Right, bcat2?

Nothing like that. The adjectives I used were "good" and "solid." I will stick with that. Central Michigan's Cooper Rush was picked 1st team All-MAC. Currently against MAC teams Rush is seventh in pass efficiency, two places behind Maxwell. Maxwell probably does have better receivers and Central's 16 sacks against vs the MAC is the worst in the MAC. Maxwell should be appreciative of his support.
