I'll be disappointed if I don't see a "Welcome to turdville" sign at WMU.

No, that would be if Gameday was going to Toledo.

BG is the only other MAC school to host College Gameday. Too bad WMU isn't playing Toledo this weekend instead of Buffalo though. They play each other the following week with the winner in all likelihood headed to the MACC.

Ohio will forever be first and foremost but I love the MAC (well, maybe not Miami) too and this will be great exposure for the conference.

May see a lot of screen time for the Bobcats if they are going over the MAC/who Western is playing moving forward etc. Since WMU is having the best year in school history right now I'm sure they will have fans coming out of the woodwork that were nowhere to be found a year or two ago.

Totally agree. GREAT exposure for the league, no matter who WMU is playing. They are obviously there to spotlight WMU and PJ Fleck....deservedly so.

Also kind of a kick to the stomach. How far we below them are we as a program right now? We were on the cusp of this in 2012 before the tailspin.

Seems like we fell down the mountain pretty hard the last four years. Feel like we are light years from where WMU is right now.

So is anybody taking an Ohio flag to Kazoo to wave it behind Lee Corso's head?

Their program is definitely riding a high note right now… But it could all come crashing down within a year or two once Fleck leaves.

Who would have thought 2 of the least attractive MAC Campus sites would host a ESPN Gameday before the Bobcats. Maybe Toledo whose campus is just OK.

That is what success in Football and Basketball bring a University.

Sucks but they (WMU) deserve it.

Curious. If ever in Athens. Where would we expect Game Day to set up?

At South Carolina they set up in their Quad (College Green).
At Louisville my son said it was next to the stadium.

Interesting. At Louisville they paid my son and others $20 an hour to be in the crowd. Had to sign waiver pledging not to do anything vulgar. And to have "clean" signs. Did not know they pay the students behind the set.

I always like Gameday when you can see the stadium in the background. Punchcard Park? Otherwise South Beach or College Green.

ESPN doesn't give a rat's ass what these campuses look like. They don't seek attractive campuses, they seek attractive teams and matchups. There are a lot of universities that feature football programs that are more attractive than their campuses.

It might not even take that long as it could come crashing down on November 26 (vs Toledo) or December 2 (vs Ohio). If WMU loses to UT they won't even get to Detroit. WMU is also in a MAC title drought (1988) and if this team falls short it would be crushing. Right now for WMU, anything short of winning the MACC and getting to a NYD-6 bowl would be crushing considering what they've accomplished this year.

Before the IPF was built, it would have been held in that open field, right? Or across the street at Tailgreat Park?

It would be really cool if they set up in the South endzone, with a packed Victory hill in the backdrop.

I'm just hoping that Dec. 2 date you referenced for the opponent is correct. Ohio's season could come crashing down if they lose out....opening the door for Fiami (of all teams) to win the East.

I doubt they'd go for this, but when I've daydreamed about college gameday in Athens I've imagined them setting up the set right at the intersection of Court Street and Union Street at the gateway to college green. Similar to where they setup a stage for Halloween.

Of course, this would be a trainwreck for traffic but well worth it for the one-off experience of College Gameday in Athens!

Granted WMU is having a great year but I wouldnt say overall they are a better program. They are making the most of their opportunities for sure. But we are a model of consistancy that other teams in our conference seeks. Top it of with a MAC championship this year and we make a name for ourselves. Northen Illinois is the pillar of the MAC right now despite a tough season.

I could see them setting up on Court Street, they've used a similar setting at North Dakota State.

A bigger issue than finding the right setting is that I can't remember the last time we played a Saturday game in November.

Too bad we could not finish the deal with either Texas State or EMU. Would love to be 9-1 right now and 11-1 going to Detroit to face a 12-0 WMU. Woulda, coulda, shoulda, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Every game counts, win out Bobcats!

Even at 8-2 I'd be OK. No shame in losing to EMU this season, although Ohio still should have beaten them. But Texas State is 2-7. They've beaten us an Incarnate Word. Try to find me another win in the FBS that is as off base as that one. It's just one of those weird things.

In order to get Gameday, we would need to schedule a home game in Nov. Probably not going to happen anytime soon.
