TRAP GAME! TRAP GAME! TRAP GAME!

Central is in need of a win. We are doing well. Let's take care of business and wrap up the East!

Ohio and CMU both find themselves looking for at least one win in the final two games. For Ohio a win is (probably) needed to lock up the East. For CMU a win in needed to become bowl eligible. This will be a hard fought, contested game. I'd guess CMU will be about a 3 point favorite, but Ohio has been playing well lately, and even though CMU has been a thorn in Ohio's side, I think Ohio can do this. They won in the Glass Bowl, they can win in Kelly/Shorts.

Even tho we're only 5-23-2 all-time vs CMU, we won the last meeting at K/S (43-28 in '11) and have won two of the last three up there. Keep it rolling.

Is there a more strange name for a stadium in the MAC than Kelly/Shorts?

Plenty.

Albertsons Stadium/Boise, ID - Sounds like the name of a hardware store.

Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium/Austin, TX - Everything is bigger in Texas, even the name of your stadium.

Faurot Field/Columbia, MO - I feel like this is the word you would use for a ferret if it were a fancy French word.

Houchens Industries L.T. Smith Stadium/Bowling Green, KY - it's a mouthful.

Frank Broyles Field at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium/Fayetteville, AR - this is just stupid. Pick a name.

Ross-Ade Stadium/West Lafayette, IN - Who is Ross and why does he need aid?

Scheumann Stadium/Muncie, IN - a man named Schuemann who sells shoes would be perfect.

Frank teams vs. CMU all-time

2014: L (10-28) at CMU
2013: L (23-26) at home
2011: W (43-28) at CMU
2009: L (10-20) MAC title
2008: L (28-31) at home
2006: L (10-31) MAC title
2005: L (10-37) at CMU

Ohio won in 2000. So the last four at CMU is a 2-2 tie.

So it looks like the reason for the Chips' recent woes have been two things: they can't stop turning the ball over and the opponents running game can't be stopped. Opponents have averaged almost 200 yards on the ground during the three game slide.

Albertson's is a western-based grocery chain. I know only because a classmate was an Albertson's exec.

GameDay @ CMU-

I agree this is a trap game and because Miami handled them well doesnt mean we will. I believe right now as a whole Miami's secondary is playing some of the best ball in the MAC right now. I believe we will win but it will be a closer game than expected. As a former player whose played them:

CMU starts fast against us so we have ro turn the tide in that aspect.
CMU always wina the field position game against us so we need to win that.
Less turnovers and penalties. We gave up over 300 yards to Tyree Jackson and Buffalo, the lowest passing team in our conference. These days of rest are critical. I hope we can run some Cover 2 and Cover 3 zone blitz and mess with Rush's head. I'm not worried about their running game. We wont have to worry about another teams running game until WMU in the MACC. No Cover 4 and less man this weekend. Lets make Rush use his eyes to scan the whole field and bring nickel and OLB pressure. Go CATS!

Albertson's also sells Graeter's ice cream (at least in Colorado)

A win at CMU would make us unbeaten on the road in the MAC this year. The last time that happened might have been 1968.

There is no such thing as a trap game.

Gotta think we'll be favored by a few points.

Coach Monroe says. "There is no such thing as a trap game." Has anyone else studied Crassus and the Battle of Carrhae?

Rush could feast on the secondary if they can keep him upright. Control the clock with the run game and keep it out of his hands. Don't wait another week to win the East.

In the "strange stadium names" discussion, how about "Ohio Stadium" in Columbus? Why name your football venue after another University in the state?

First thing I thought of at CMU: Who is Kelly, and where are his Shorts?

Historical trivia point: Peden stadium was originally called Ohio Stadium. When I was a young kid tickets to OHIO games would say "Ohio Stadium" on them.

I watched part of the second half of the CMU-Miami game. Miami was pumped and CMU appeared to be in a stupor. This was not the team I saw beat Okie State. Let's hope they stay in that stupor one more week. However, they have a lot of time to heal mentally over the off-week, so I think it's unlikely they will play as badly as they did against the guys from Oxford. IF OHIO is going to win, I'm afraid we'll have to bring our A game. Despite the opinion of some in this thread, this game is not a gimme. It frankly (pardon the pun), has me worried.

They looked pretty much the same way vs Kent. First half they were flat. They didn't score until they blocked a punt for a safety in the second quarter, that made it 3-2. They had to score a late TD to make it only 10-10 at the half. And they didn't score at all in the fourth quarter. I think good defenses really bother them, so we really need to bring it.

You're right. This isn't a gimme. It'll be Senior Night; they've lost three straight, including two to the East; and they're wanting bowl eligibility badly. They lose and they could very well be staying home in Dec after being 5-2 at one point.

And this is the century old problem, previous OHIO administrations just let the columbus gorilla do whatever they wanted and just moved out of the way for them.

I don't think this is a trap game at all. If this game meant nothing towards a title against a team that is a patsy we normally beat and everyone is looking forward to the next game, maybe. But, at the moment, I think it's none of those.

Sure, the Chips are trending down and the Bobcats are trending up. But I really doubt anyone on the Bobcat roster is looking past this game.
