Hasn't happened yet. Just wanted to avoid the holiday rush.

That would be a most welcomed gift for many a Bearcat fan this holiday season-including me. I know UC isn't swimming in cash but if they try to bring him back next year they may as well not even bother printing tickets because it would be a waste.

Hoping for a TOS to Cincinnati Bengals thread while we are at it but that ain't happening with Ebeneezer Brown at the helm.

I'm torn on firing Lewis. Part of me says it's been long enough, and some new blood is needed. The other part of me says the problems this year aren't his fault.

That assumes Lewis can correctly identify the problems (crap O line, old DBs) and come up with a workable solution in the offseason. If not, can his ass.

I read somewhere that Tubey's buyout drops by about a third on Dec 7 -- Pearl Harbor Day. I'd expect something no later than then.

Exactly this. They have a pretty new stadium that will be half empty (or worse) if they keep him. If you want an example of how to throw gas on a fire while you're on the hot seat, look up Tommy Tuberville's comments in the last month.

I believe I read similar news. Something like going from $2.5 mil, down to $1.5 mil, or maybe even $1 mil. Either way, it will be money well spent for UC to buy that one out.

In the last 3-4 weeks, I've likened the UC hire of Tuberville to the OU hire of JC. Of course JC had more success on the court while here that Tommy T has had at UC, but I honestly question how well he may have done after the graduation of the class that included Nick Kellogg, John Smith, TJ, Ricardo, etc.

Funny part about this is that he JUST signed a new extension upping his buyout. Had they not done that, they could have let him go for even less.

THANKS KIRK FERENTZ!

Even if Lewis was the problem, Brown wouldn't let him go. He's ok with being 8-8 and first round playoff losses. I think he'll give Lewis some leeway until he falls into the pit of despair like Shula or LeBeau.

You give an elite coach the roster the Bengals had in the past 4-5 seasons? Super Bowl.

They announced TT's extension during summer, and it seems to be SOP to announce the deal but let the lawyers work it over for months past that.

I've always wondered what the fallout would be for an extension to be pulled off the table when things turn as they have in Cincy.
