This loss means squat because no one in the East will top Ohio in the standings when it's all said and done.

On the bright side, Kent is probably going to lose today so we still sit on top of the East (I think...)

I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing it. Unless there's a major turnaround this team is going to lose to Kent, Toledo (ooh, that could be very ugly), Central (even uglier) and "kron. I even have my doubts about Buffalo given how poorly they played today.

This settle for attitude is exactly what drives Monroe crazy. The Amway folks go crazy on this attitude. We win the MAC least. Big deal.

Do we allow gambling on this site? If so I am willing to bet a hot nut at Tony's that we dont make it. If we make it, one helluva party. But this guy is saying our 3 MAC West losses cost us.

I thought it was hyperbole but I am wrong; the MAC East is undoubtedly the worst division in FBS. Not sure how much I would brag about winning it if Ohio does win it. The West has 5 teams that are better than any team in the East.

You can't win the MACC without winning your division. It's impossible. Ohio is the best team in a bad MAC East this year. But get to Detroit and anything can happen.

Lots of people are totally dismissing Akron, and I am not sure why. Of course same people dismissed EMU as well.

Missouri Valley Football Conference (FCS) has higher Sagarin rating than MAC East. That's a fact. A sad one...but a fact.

Akron will be a formidable opponent. We have to get our secondary together and complete a higher percentage of our passes, especially our deep throws.

Today's results - Miami 18/Kent 14; Toledo 42/BG 35; BSU 31/Buffalo 21; and, WMU 41/Akron 0. The East just keeps getting uglier.

Because they can't beat Ohio. And they know it.

Color me cautiously optimistic about winning the East. 'Kron is the biggest competition. I think we can handle Kent and Buffalo. Just need Akron to drop all 3 of their games to the west (which would mean losing to Ball State). Or...lay an egg in the East.

I think the East will come down to Ohio and Akron in that final game. I don't think either team is great, and I fully expect both to go winless against the West. So you might have 4-3 vs. 4-3 or even 3-4, but the winner will get in the title game. I really believe the only way Ohio would be out of East contention in the final game is if the Bobcats go winless in every game until then.

You really think Akron will lose to BSU? I see that as a long shot.

If anyone sat inside Peden today and thinks things are headed in the right direction, they are delusional. Ohio got blown up on both sides of the line and the pass defense was atrocious. Windham is just not good. I'm sure he's a nice guy and works hard, but his passes have no zip are ar highly inaccurate. The play calling has reached a new low. Is the best call in the playbook for 3rd and 1 really a QB option keeper? How can anyone watch the game today and think there is any logical reason to book a hotel room in Detroit for December 2nd?

Lots of people (myself included) dismissed Texas State. As our performance against them and Miami evidenced, we aren't in a position to look down our noses as or take for granted anyone on our schedule.

A loss like this in the previous five years would have been damaging. But not this year. Ohio is the best team in the East and will be in Detroit.

Want a better chance at going to Detroit? Play Maxwell as the starter and give him all the snaps. The upside outweighs the downside.

Couldn't agree more. Maxwell is the better QB.

I went to the Zips vs Bronco game today.

Western looked like they did against OHIO last season for the first four possessions. Akron's defense finally started making stops (unlike OHIO's last season--I think it was seven straight scores in 2015 at Peden)

The second half was boring with WMU grinding it out.

Akron wasn't a turnover machine giving shortfield advantage and Akron got two turnovers, something none of the first 6 WMU opponents can say. The Zips simply were outclassed by WMU. Clearly with Michigan State getting thumped by Northwestern, WMU would be the 5th or 6th best team in the Big--who knows, maybe even better than Nebraska, Minnesota and Maryland. WMU is like a precision machine, hurry up, several neat plays, pound the bubble screen then pop the RB up the gut. High percentage throws and razzle dazzle--pitched back to the QB for a bomb. Only deficiency is that today the WMU QB was not very good at the homerun ball, Akron should have given up a few more scores if not for the inaccuracy.

Akron has not had it's top QB or top running back now for several games. Gotta think Akron is at least as good as Eastern.

Ball State looks better than any team in the East, or at least as good, and the game is in Muncie. The Cardinals are 4-3. Losses to Indiana by 10, NIU by 7, CMU by 3. Even if Akron wins that, I wouldn't be shocked to see them hiccup against BG or Buffalo. I think any of the MAC West bottom-dwellers would be in contention in the East.
