While Navy has had a fine year, any move they make must happen this week. Assuming Western wins Friday, there is ZERO chance Navy jumps Western the following week because Navy adds a win over a 2-win Army team.

Bottom line: Western wins and they are in.

What would be interesting is what happens if we beat WMU and Navy loses to Temple.
San Diego State or South Florida could be in the mix then.

To me it's crazy that Western Michigan should have to be concerned about going undefeated and getting passed by a two-loss team. What more could the Broncos have done? Basically the only thing anyone can hold against them is they almost lost a road game to a Big Ten team that finished above .500 in the league.
South Florida would not be in the mix because they didn't win their conference. It's the highest-rated conference champ.

It's not crazy for Navy to get in before WMU. I'm a MAC fan, but the AAC is without a doubt much, much better than the MAC. The AAC West, as well, is the best Group of 5 division with Navy, Memphis, Houston, and Tulsa. Navy has beat three teams who have been ranked this season, including the #6 team in the country, and has a close road loss to 10-2 USF which is currently ranked adn 9-3 Air Force (who just beat Boise St). WMU only will have wins over two teams with winning records (EMU, Ohio). If there's a qualification that an undefeated team gets in first then it's theirs, but if a committee looks at the resumes it could be a close decision.

Actually, Army is 6-5 this year and likely bowling. It's not a great chance, but the fact that the CFP committee won't make that selection until after the Army game illustrates that there still a bit of question.

Yup. My. Bad. Looked at old year. Still think it is more PR on the part of committee. Undefeated WMU is most worthy.

Evening mates, Troy fan here. Just thought id stop by and throw my 2 cents. Ive got a source who says our two schools will meet in Mobile at the DG bowl (possibility of it being Toledo tho). We will announce our side on Sunday. I do remember we played a few years back 2010 Nola bowl I believe. If so I hope you guys bring a good crowd.
The game is nearly a home game for us, so we should see a great crowd. Last time we played in this bowl against CMU, I think it had around 38k in attendance.
