Sell seats on the party deck.
There and on the concrete steps behind the end zone. I think, back in my day some of the band sat there? Maybe I made that up.

No, you are correct. I believe it was designed for that purpose. More space and easier access to the field. I’ve never heard the reason for moving them up to the middle of the student section.

I'm sure the reason is we don't draw dick and a full band section makes the stands look better.

We're using the full band section to show teams that we're worth it to command $5M per game to play us.

I'm being harsh, because we out draw our MACtion peers by a fine amount in November, but still, it looks better when the student presence is surrounding the band.

If I Had to guess at a secondary reason, i imagine the band hated the field level endzone seats. You can't see s**t from there.

Now that all the drama of the coaching search/change is out of the way, the players can let it all out, and take it out on Jacksonville State. Go Bobcats!

OU is favored by -2.5

JSU is a really good team. Luckily, I think they play right into our hands with how much they run. 267 yards a game under Rich Rod. 2nd in the nation behind Army.

OU's run defense is 5th in the country - 95.8

They also score a lot - averaging almost 37 a game. They lost by 2 to WKU. Then turned around and beat them by 40 a week later.

Gonna be a run battle. Defensive line really gonna be tested.
according to one book site

“running back Anthony Tyus III could cook in this matchup. He finished with over 1,100 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, and the Gamecocks ranked 99th in run defense success rate. Expect him to lead the Bobcats to a win.”

The spread went from -3 to -5 off of the coaching news. With no one in the transfer portal, a coach hired from within, and how well they played in MAC Championship -- My gut tells me you take OHIO (big) and lay the points.

That would be nice as OHIO already has the longest bowl winning streak in the nation. Much better than those other streaks we had back in the past century during the two Wilderness Campaigns. I seem to remember a year when we tore down the goal posts after we won one game to avoid a winless season. Any other old timer remember that? Know what year it was?

Lichtenberg's next to last year. We won two straight home games so the goals got torn down twice.

I remember once during the Cleve years we upset Toledo at home and one dude hopped up on a goalpost but no one joined in. Still took the OUPD like five minutes to get him down.

Were those at the very end of the season? What I seem to remember was that this streak-ending victory was the last or next to the last game of the season.

1993. Yes, a win against KSU and then a win against Akron during Halloween weekend in what I remember was a very cold and rainy day.

There was a great quote from Hank McElhaney in the AP story after the second win. Something like, "If our students want to keep tearing down the goalposts after every win, our administration will happily come up with the funds to erect new ones."

We SPANKED Toledo, which I believe had the nation's longest winning streak at that time.

OK, I found the season that I was remembering -- 1986. Yes, the goalposts went down that last game. Not sure if that was the year they ended up in the Hocking River or not. 1986 Ohio Bobcats Schedule and Results

Something to monitor. Their defense lost a bunch of starters to the portal. Offense still seems intact

Jacksonville State Transfer Portal

Starting WR Cam Vaughn
Starting S Zechariah Poyser (signed with Miami)
Starting OLB Reginald Hughes (best edge; signed with Colorado)
Starting S Fred Perry (first-team All CUSA)
Starting CB Jabari Mack
Starting CB Fred Davis
CB Derek Carter (207 snaps)
OL K.D. Arnold (215 snaps)
LB Jibreel Al-Amin (164 snaps)
S Tee Denson (123 snaps)
WR Tar’varish Dawson (61 snaps)

Last year, players in the portal didn't play in the bowl game for the Gamecocks. However, a report has surfaced that some of the players in the portal could play this season.

One of my buddies used to tell a story about the Pitt win at home in 2005, saying he saw some kid get absolutely wrecked by a security guy when trying to get on the goal posts after Dion Byrum took it back to the house.

You have to give the Marshall fans credit for creative thinking on that, but it was a bad situation, and can be avoided by making sure the Season Tickets price in the full value of that game. Fans that don't want to pay that much can sell their WVU tickets, and get the money back, or more. To avoid that, Ohio could offer a special season ticket option for 2025, a season ticket which excludes the WVU game. That way, people unwilling to pay the price for the WVU game can simply opt out of buying it, and then the University can sell them as single game tickets to WVU fans.
Is the AD's office capable of such creative thinking? I guess we'll soon find out.
I'd actually be more worried about the concessions/restrooms than where people are gonna sit and how much we're gonna charge. You better be on your game for this one and overkill it if you need to with volunteers and staffing to save the long lines.

We'll, need a row of portapotties inside the stadium gates somewhere because the restrooms you referenced are totally inadequate to accommodate this size crowd, given the way Mountaineers like to drink beer, and other liquids they might smuggle into the stadium.

Last time we were at Camping World Stadium, we needed overtime to beat MAC brethren UCF before that program had any kind of pulse.

Two very similar teams in that both are run first, although we're more balanced. Ohio runs about 62% of the time (528 rushes to 317 passes) while JSU is almost 70% runs (611 to 280). They average 267 ypg on the ground, so if our D holds them closer to our defensive average (96 ypg), it'll be big. They give up rushing (170) about as much as we get (187). The teams have similar passing stats: Ohio 187 ypg on offense and 200 ypg on defense; JSU 177 ypg on offense and 215 ypg on defense.

JSU has a big edge on TDs -- 61 (48 rushing) to Ohio's 46 -- and tunover margin -- Ohio is minus 2 while JSU is plus 9. But Ohio has given up fewer TDs (26 to 38) and has nine more sacks.
