I was looking at pictures of Waldo Stadium and it appears they have some luxury boxes on top of one of the grandstands and possibly in the end zone over what I'm guessing is an academic or weight training facility. It got me questioning whether anything like that has ever been discussed for Peden, and if the industry/businesses of SE Ohio can even support something like that no matter how humble/affordable they would price them and still make them profitable for the program. Could you build some very modest, yet nice, suites over the student side or incorporate them into the forthcoming academic center? I know it's crazy but could it be done? If on the student side it would go a long way to making that side, and the whole stadium, look a lot more "grown up".

If we ever got some ranked teams to play us home and home, we might get some upsets a la Pitt in Coach Solich's first year. Then we would have all kinds of interest in luxury boxes by alums who claimed they always loved the Bobcats and attended football games. However, I doubt that is going to happen.

Like I have said in so many posts, I am grateful for how far we have some from my undergrad days in the 80s when some of us actually counted fans in the stands for entertainment in the 2nd half. I honestly think it would shock people as to how many people would come under the right circumstances. However, I am not sure those circumstances would ever be allowed to take place. In the meantime, we are going to have to get use to TV games in November on ESPN and hope people stay for the second half.

At one time there were actual drawings of 6 to 12 "luxury" boxes on the east side of the stadium (I can't find the drawings to save my soul). The Green and White Club actually discussed securing one of the boxes to 1) promote and financially support OU athletics, 2) serve as a membership premium via a chance to have the box for a game for you and your friends and 3) increase membership through this premium. Hopefully one of you search geniuses can find those drawings and post them.

I'd be happy with a new coat of paint. And can they drag their feet any longer on this academic center.

I've said it a hundred times, it's time to expand, sell the luxury boxes and generate revenue from a stadium expansion, tie in the academic center and expand by 10,000 with new stands, concessions and restrooms.

Be careful with those rather modest expectations my fine Falcon friend. That guy from Muncie might accuse you of being an Amway "settle for" person.

I think the boxes would have been in between the two decks, shown in this image?

I believe that space in the tower where the academic center is will be converted to a players lounge and can double as suites for game day. If you watched the WMU-Buffalo game Fleck's office during games is converted to a box suite. The academic center should undergo the same gameday transformation from what I read.

SRO with the academic center is going to be 30,000 with the bathrooms and concourse space. Peden's top crowd is 26,000 so we are a ways from expanding, most likely only possible if OHIO starts winning 10+ games a year to really draw out the fans.

Haven't seen this, that's great, probably generate another $500,000 a year in revenue, that's awesome!
