My preference is anywhere in Florida or the Bahamas. I'm not sure why (if Ohio has the choice) they would go to Mobile instead of the choices in Florida or the Bahamas? Prestige? I guess I don't know enough about the differences in these smaller bowl games. Example, is Dollar General (Mobile, Alabama) bigger and better than the Miami Beach Bowl or the Boca Raton Bowl or the Bahamas Bowl? I don't know the answer, but I think I know where I would rather be on a December day.

I cant go this year, but if I could I'd love a warm weather locale near major airport for ease/cost.

The Miami, Mobile and Bahama bowls all would be good. The issue is what ones actually are doable. The Mobile and Bahama are on Fri. 23rd. That's a bitch for flights. Bahama flights are around $500 R/T and the Mobile flights will also be around $500 r/t due to flying on Christmas weekend.

Mobile had a great bowl. The parade was fantastic. The drive would be possible, but 11-12 hours. We flew into New Orleans last time and drove over, just don't think airfare will be worth it on Christmas weekend though.

An option for Bahama bowl would be take the Carnival Cruise Liberty out of Port Canaveral. It's a 3 day that departs on Thur 22nd and gets to Nassau at noon on Friday...would have to tailgate on the ship and catch cab directly to stadium. The ship stays in Nassau until 8pm...so plenty of time to enjoy game and then maybe some extra time to look around. The pricing is around $228-$328 a person depending on cabin. The ship gets back to Port Canaveral on Christmas day though...so not an option for most people doing family Christmas stuff.

I like the Miami bowl..it's reasonable airfare still at around $200 R/T because weekend before Christmas and less disruptive to Christmas...could fly down Friday or Saturday for the weekend, hit the game and catch a late Monday flight home.

Winnable game is more important to me than location. Getting bowl win #3 would be a nice Christmas gift.

We don't match up well with some of the American Conference teams that we are aligned with for bowls. I cringe at the thought of what Greg Ward Jr. would do to our secondary if we had to play Houston.

The Bahamas Bowl would be a great experience for our players as it is a nice, warm destination that would really feel like a reward for a good season. It would also allow the players an opportunity to visit another country who would otherwise not get the chance.

Yankee Stadium is about a 1/2 hour drive (without traffic) from my house.

I'm not sure Ohio would sell too much over 50 either.

I know it shouldn't matter, but Mobile is ruined for me with that Dollar General name. It's just asking for ridicule and every casual fan is going to assume it's the worst bowl out there.

I was in the Bahamas last month. I thought it was run down and really dirty, but I'd bet that would be a fun experience for the team. It would also be interesting to see how passports are expedited for that bowl game. How many of those in the program already have a passport?

I'd take any Florida city over Nassau. I agree about Mobile being a great time, but I think we were all hyped up over not having any experience with Bobcats in bowl games. I loved that trip, but doubt I would go back.

The payout doesn't really matter. All the money goes to the conference, who then sends an amount to the teams who play to cover costs, with the rest being split.

If it helps all of Maryland is rooting for the Cats so that Navy can get into the Cotton Bowl! My wife works at the Academy is involved with bowl planning - everyone is going to be watching with great anticipation Friday night.

Navy pulled withing two slots in the CFP rankings last night so a WMU win doesn't necessary guarantee them the Cotton Bowl as Navy could leapfrog them with a strong showing against Temple and Army (Navy put up 66 and 75 the last two weeks so they are surging).

One other note that could have an implication on the MAC bowl situation: if Navy wins the AAC Saturday the CFP committee has already said it will wait to make a determination until after the Army-Navy game on 12/10 on who from the Group of 5 gets the Cotton Bowl. They announced they will have a conference call after that game. To me this indicates a WMU win Friday doesn't guarantee them that game. This also could have a downstream effect on who gets what bowl in the MAC. I know the MAC doesn't having a pecking order, but I'm wondering if the Dollar General Bowl would wait to see if it would invite WMU or Ohio.
