Wow! McMurphy's twitter feed is already making fun of this bowl - Dollar General where tickets are $1. We did not get the best bowl by any means. Toledo against Appalachian State on a Saturday is prime time. Oh well, Mobile last time was a fun time.

Hmm . . . Troy only lost to Clemson by six -- 30-24. Seems like they might be a half decent team. ;-)

At the risk of being beat up, I am going ahead and say it. Why does CMU get a game at Miami Beach and we get what is basically a punchline for a bowl. Oh well, it fits our template, 7-5 or 8-4 season and a joke for a bowl game. BTW, that is not due to Troy either.

They have a better location, but their game is at 2:30 PM on a Monday (and a Monday before anyone is off for the holiday), so about 5 people will be able to watch it.

I dunno. I would have gone to Miami, but cant make Mobile on the 23rd at 7 PM. Easier travel and a better date. A friend texted me he had 20 or so who would have possibly gone to Miami, but can't find anyone to make the trip to Mobile.

As for who went where, I'm guessing the primary bowl tie-ins pulled more weight.

MAC attendance should be an interesting side note. The dates of these bowl games aren't exactly conducive for travel. Considering the crowd they brought to the championship game and the way the attendance record was shattered, I don't think it would be a stretch to say that Western Michigan should be able to double or triple the combined attendance of all the other MAC teams.

WMU gets Wisconsin, Miami gets Miss St in St Pete, EMU goes to the Bahamas, CMU goes to Miami and we get...... Troy in Mobile 2 days before Christmas. Nice.

Nobody in the MAC drew a 6-6 or 7-5 team from CUSA, the Sunbelt or the MWC. All of these teams are tough outs. Literally everyone won 9 or games except the SEC team. Who is going to favored? I think Toledo will be close to pick 'em. Everyone else is an underdog.

I like the Dollar General Bowl as a league tie-in and Troy is a very good opponent that will draw well in their home region. It's a good match-up and will make a very good television game Unfortunately, the time/date will not work for our holiday plans. So, I'll gather with Bobcat friends and family here to watch.

FYI -- I'm the Miami Beach Bowl 20 ticket guy that Eagle66 referenced. I was ready to purchase them tomorrow. Cheap travel costs, easier logistics and better timing on my end. Plus sixteen of my tickets were going to people in Florida. I've only gone to one of our bowls (WhistleGate vs. Marshall at Ford Field) -- the timing and locations typically don't work well.

If Ohio fans want better bowls with larger payouts, they need to travel in larger numbers.

Our getting this bowl has nothing to do with attendance by OUr fans. Hopefully the selection committee sent a jar of Vaseline with the invitation.

Was right there with you. Had flight, hotels lined up for Miami just waiting for official announcement.

Then Mobile.

I'd take any of those other MAC opponents (other than ODU) and bowl games over the one Ohio got. Very disappointing.

Hell, this could have been a rather cheap trip because my sister lives in Miami....

Miss State crushed Ole Miss in their last game 55-20. I'll bet there's a Monroe with a southern accent on the U. Miss board complaining about crushing losses to 5-7 teams. ;-)

Thanks for the laugh about "crushing losses". My wife and I just enjoyed a couple glasses of wine.

It's not impressive when two drool online.

It does, however, of course, totally make up for mediocrity and no MACC in 12 years.

There's a heck of a lot more humor on this board than most folks recognize. Some of it is actually intentional! ;-)

With a son and grandson in NOLA, this could have been a great opportunity; NOLA is only a two hour drive from Mobile. But the date just cannot work out for me either.
Like Joe, I'll watch the game with other Bobcats here and maybe pick up a gag gift for tonight's gift exchange at Dollar General.
