So many wasted opportunities. Frustrating to watch, but glad for the win. During the middle of the season, we seemed to be able to spur on the offense when things became stagnant by switching quarterbacks. We now seem to be content with letting the defense win the game and waiting for offensive opportunities. I don't know the extent of Windham's ankle injury or if he was able to play tonight, but I keep seeing in my head the supposed option play (QB keeper) near the goal line with an open Irons waiting for the pitch. The passing game seems so inconsistent and I found myself being jealous of Akron's third string QB converted wide receiver who seemed much more capable than our counterpart. I hope we can come up with a better plan before the conference championship game.

It's the play calling. Opposing defenses figure us out after a while.

Actually I think he's not grown in maturity. Missed many wide open passes tonight and could have flipped to Irons for a TD. Not seeing the field IMO.

It's Game 12. He's not a freshman anymore. Of course he's still young and needs to grow, but my God Akron is awful. Ohio should have beat that team by 40.

Not a true freshman, a redshirt. Has been in the program for almost two years. Hasn't shown any improvement since given the reigns. The missed pass to Cope on 4th down was emblematic of what we have seen between decision-making and accuracy.

I want him to be a stud. Our coaching staff, however, does not have a track record for such growth.

Wish he'd make him ride the rails out of town. He's got to go. Just the worst!

our offense sucked from start to finish in every aspect. Passing, running, o'line. and even though the 4th down pass on our first drive was high, it should have been caught. We made no attempts to stretch Akron's D wide when they were stuffing the middle. We sure as s*** couldn't pass it... why not a few more attempts to go wide?

Good Lord. Our backup QB comes in just when I'm starting to think doing the laundry on a Friday night will be a more pleasant experience than watching Bobcat field goal attempts all night and a switch is flipped. I'm really hoping that Greg's ankle injury is what has been keeping him off the field for the last few games. I can't believe it was ever a hard decision to decide which quarterback gave our team the best chance to win. If he doesn't start the bowl game, I may be done with the Bobcats. So frustrating. Very proud of the defense tonight.

According to Frank at the press conference before today's game Windham said he was at 80% for the Akron game so he probably wasn't ready that game per Frank. No brainer to me that he starts the bowl game.

There are a few frustrating things related to the QB position for me:
1. Tyler Tettleton had a transcendent year and a solid year. Since then we have had no definitive starter from year to year. Sprague vs. vick, Windham, Maxwell (waste of a scholly on Duckworth). This is on the recruiters.
2. We didn't utilize our weapons which isn't the fault of the QBs. I don't care if we telegraph it...Papi and Sebastian need 15 touches or targets a game. And Reid could have been effective. Where was Mangen this year?
3. We have been vanilla every year except for the transcendent TT and Beau year on offense. That is the fault of Tim Albin and Frank Solich. One or both needs to retire or move on.
4. AJ Oulette would have been good for wins over Texas State, Eastern Michigan and, to tell you the truth, Tennessee. We were missing a grind it out, 3 to 5 yards at a time runner, putting more pressure on our QBs.
5. Next year I hope Keszei is up for the challenge because Maxwell is a redshirt freshman who showed no improvement. As a comparison take Hagan. Came in and and made plays as a redshirt freshman.

I agree that if Windham doesn't start the bowl game I will turn it off. I want too win the bowl game, not get Maxwell reps. We will not win with Maxwell the rest of this year.

I think Maxwell will be fine as our starter next year. The game is going to slow down for him a lot between now and the start of next season with the experience he will have under his belt. It's not like he was the starter every game this season either.

And speaking of Tyler Tettleton, I remember giving him a hard time for his play during 2009 I think it was and then he came back one season all buff from his time in the weight room and went on to be a great QB for us for a time. So basing off that experience, I think with hard work during the off season, Maxwell can become a great one for us as well also based on how great he played after he came back in against Toledo.

He needs to win a competition, he needs to step up, because the 2017 Maxwell will not take us anywhere. I believe he can improve. I think a healthy Moloney or Keszei beats him out.
