I just don't see Ohio losing this game. I expect Troy to struggle with Ohio's defense and for Ohio's offense to move the ball on Troy with various run schemes and big pass plays over the top. I also give the special teams and coaching edges to Ohio. The only edge I give Troy will be the crowd which will be negated by everything stated above. I feel like Ohio got one of the most winnable opponents out of all the MAC bowls and look for a somewhat easy win.

Ohio - 37
Troy - 23

Troy's OL might be the best Ohio has seen. About a push with Tenn's. Ohio's DL should be the best Troy has seen. Brown, Poling, Davis, Hagan & Moore give Ohio's edge. Windham has his career game, is MVP over Brown. Ball gets good all-purpose yardage, like in the EMU game.

We stole their offense so they know how to play us. However their coach made a vulnerable statement saying our offensive plays are unpredictable because of the formations we run. He stated we were a 50-50 team and that we are hard to predict what down we will run or throw on. Most coaches talk about players they need to stop in a game like this but the coach went on about our scheme and how it's hard to pinpoint a weakness. If Troy blitz we throw one-on-one deep ball to Reid or Smith. They stay lax on defensive we can run it for a 4-5yard average. Since they played Clemson close, I expect them to blitz a little more than their regular season. However, I believe we win this won 31-21.

ExCat21, I think you just answered a question I left for you on another thread.

Thanks.

Windham is the key to this game. If he can come out and hit the long ball at the beginning like he did against WMU, Kansas, Texas State (remember, Papi White dropped a beautiful pass laid right in his hands), then Ohio can win. If he struggles we're doomed as I just don't see Maxwell coming in and leading the Cats to a win.

I don't know. Ohio hasn't won a BIG game other than Toledo in a very, very long time. And this being basically a road game against a team we all thought Ohio would woop in 2010 in the New Orleans Bowl and that didn't happen!

Oh well, might as drink the Green Kool Aid!

Ohio 31, Troy 28

I honestly have no idea what to expect in this game but I know that 2010 result has absolutely nothing to do with it and will have no influence. The 2010 team was probably the worst defense Frank solich fielded in his tenure.

To me, this is a huge game for our program. We can’t seem to shake the better teams in the Sun Belt and we need to make it happen tonight. Troy and App State are solid.

I have no idea what to expect given all the pregame hype around Troy’s DE and offense. I am still scared from the Family Trip I took to New Orleans to watch the embarrassment that unfolded. For other reasons, the entire weekend was an expensive disaster.

I hope we get some respect back and win this thing. We have had some of the same haunting lapses this year that we have seen in the past. That said we won some games when we had our back against the wall. The WMU Game was within our grasp against a legit Top 15 squad.

C’mon boys! I’ll have a few folks over and a fire blazing out back by kickoff. Make us proud!

I have no real feel for this game at all. We need to end 2016 on a high note. I'm amazed Troy has only given up seven sacks all year. OUr front seven has really come to the aid of our secondary this season I'm not sure how that plays out tonight if they can't get a pass rush.
I expect a philosophy of coming out quick with play action and deep shots early much like our plan against ULM a few years back with a hope it will open up running lanes later in the game. They have to jump on Troy quickly.

I like that I saw that Troy's coach said he wanted to establish the run. WMU spent the whole game doing that and kept Ohio in the game. With Windham starting, Ohio gets something going on offense early. Defense makes a play on last possession and the Bobcats win this one 30-29.

With the offense healthier than they have been for most of the season, I think the Cats score more than they have been lately. The defense will give up some points, but play Troy tough. I call it Ohio 27, Troy 21.

Troy 37 Ohio 20

I know I'm such a grim reaper, but let's face facts: our offense will be outscored by our defense yet again. And yes, claim the MACC our O actually scored, but that was because the defense gave them super short fields due to their work.

Our defense probably holds Troy under 30 points. The question is how do we score 30+ to win?

I hope we are not super conservative in our play calling and spread the field.

It is time we have a punt or kickoff return for a TD.

So I see it as 31-24 Cats

Troy's O-line slows down the Ohio pass rush just enough to hit a couple throws against the secondary when the Bobcats need some stops. Another squeaker like last year.

How can this possibly be true? Our very own certified pigskin analysis has told us time and again that we have the most predictable offense in all of college football. Who am I to believe? A D1 coach or the BA fact checker extraordinaire?

Well we can all coachspeak and compliment our opponent. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out our offense.

Our plays:
"Hey diddle, diddle, ________ up the middle!" off of a dive option that the QB rarely eats
Reverse
Speed option to short side of field

If we include our passing plays, our QB tends to overthrow them and will throw a Bronx Bomber to attempt something.

We score 30+ with Farkas booting it and giving us great field position. And our defense keeping them at their own 35 yrd line or less. This will give us the field position we need.

No.

WRONG.

Sure, coaches and announcers always tell the pure truth. They never just do coachspeak. They never say purely bland, high-praise stuff with goals of 1) not giving a team bulletin-board/inspirational stuff or 2) not dragging down the quality of the game that they are coaching or announcing.

It's amazing how much credence so many on this board give to what coaches or announcer say...when it's totally unwarranted.

Prediction: The game will be played. We'll be OHIO.

All i was doing was merely answering his question about how can a coach simply say that our play calling is dynamic despite the evidence saying otherwise. I mean seriously, our defense outscored our offense last year in the Camellia Bowl. How many times can a team say that statistic? And how can people be blind to how horrific our offense is?

Of course, Bcat2 sees someone taking an objective look at the game and picking other than OHIO as disloyalty.

Truly a person who can process info reasonably objectively.

Don't give Monroe all that credit, that is a weekly favorite topic of quite a few posters.
