Each of the last two years Michigan has helped out the Bobcats with a Graduate transfer student. In 2015 it was Keith Heitzman, who had a solid year for Ohio as a Tight End. In 2016 it was Tom Strobel, who had a solid year for Ohio as a DT. In news today, it was announced that Michigan is losing another Redshirt Junior, who plans to transfer at the end of the season as a Graduate transfer student. This year it's QB Shane Morris, a former 4-5 star recruit.

Ohio is awfully short at QB next year, and he may know Strobel and Heitzman. Could he be a Bobcat soon? His playing time for Michigan has been limited, and his stats haven't been impressive. He's 47-92 for 511 yards, with 0 TDs and 5 interceptions. Still, he had some raw talent, and Ohio is very thin with experienced QBs, so he might be a great fit. Remember, neither Heitzman or Stroble had impressive stats at Michigan, either, but given a second opportunity at Ohio, both prospered.

Very interesting possibility, L.C. I suspect if we get a 4-star recruit QB for next year that Casper71 will be doing cartwheels.

The earliest he could come down would be whenever he completes his degree at Michigan. I have no idea when that would be.

The deeper question is what is Captain Khaki doing? This much turnover at that age in a top program just doesn't happen at this rate.

The deeper question is what is Captain Khaki doing? This much turnover at that age in a top program just doesn't happen at this rate.
Seems to me like he's just filtering out guys he didn't recruit. Morris wasn't going to see the field any time soon and now guys are more aware of the grad transfer rule.

Personally, I pass on this.

He is freeing up scholarships, he is not settling. It is unfair to the seniors, but he only wants to win. We are absolutely the best fit for this QB, that gives us a chance to redshirt Keszei, IF he can win the position.

I wouldn't say we are the "best fit"....this guy was a 4-5 star recruit for one of the premier programs in the B1G....I'm guessing there are other P5 or higher level mid-majors that he might choose over coming to Ohio.

Will depend on what this player's intentions are. If they are to play and improve his draft stock, then Ohio is not the place if he can go p5. If it is to pursue sports admin (which I believe the other two Michigan transfers did - maybe someone can clarify) then Ohio certainly becomes a fit.

As has been posted before, the sports ad graduate program should be leveraged for these type of opportunities.

He's 3rd string at the moment. He has no draft stock, and he won't have one unless he earns a starting job somewhere. I would guess that his choice of school will depend on things like what he wants to study in graduate school, or on where he thinks he has the best shot of playing. Presumably Heitzman and Strobel have enjoyed Ohio, and that can't hurt.

If he wants to go to the NFL than he needs to go somewhere that he can play. Ohio is that place. If his four stars are warranted, he will pop, if not he will still play and get a great education. He may be a backup at a power 5 school and they have 4 star recruits coming in that he will have to compete with. We have some decent receivers and one of the best wide receiver coaches in the nation, h will get the opportunity to shine at Ohio more than anywhere else.

This would seemingly be an ideal pickup. I have no doubt he knows Heitzman and Strobel on some level. One thing to note is that they both grew up in this state, while he is originally from Michigan, so this transfer wouldn't bring him closer to home. Still, with PT available here and a history of successful grad transfers from Michigan, you would think he would consider us.

Thread is about a possible transfer and whether their could be a marriage. Not a poster's view on MACC. Can it be twisted to relate the two - of course. Any thread could. The intent going forward is to try to keep the focus on the specific topic. It will take some discipline - but I think we'll get there.

In that case, how a player who will be here for only one year and who plays a position at which there's a consensus that we are unproven would seem to be squarely related to MACC.

He committed to Michigan as a sophomore in high school. And never waivered. So he didn't have a "fall back" that might now be attractive. Interesting.

Yes, this seems to be a good fit for both parties. The Sports Administration program is a perfect fit for him, and Ohio definitely needs depth at QB next year. I hate seeing a true freshman thrown to the wolves at QB, but other than true Freshmen the only QBs on the roster will be Maxwell and Duckworth. That doesn't leave much margin for error in case of injury. Just a couple years ago we saw Ohio playing the third string QB in a win at NIU.

Really? In this offense? What QB has "shined" in 12 years in the Albin-Solich system? Ohio is not where you come if you have NFL QB aspirations.

I agree on the schooling aspect, but QBs don't salivate to play in Albin system.
