Sources say Tuberville stepping down. In other words, "we'll say you're stepping down but really you're fired."

Jeff Brohm from WKU and Charlie Strong are the fan favorites to take over.

A good landing spot for Fleck if he doesn't get the Oregon job.

According to multiple drunken WMU sources after the MACC game, Fleck will not accept a job on the West Coast. They seem to think it's Purdue or nothing. Don't know any of the back story on this, but it seems to be a common perception among inebriated Bronco fans. Perhaps, he's the "anti-TOS," who would only accept jobs on the East Coast, and thought being in Ohio was like being on the outer edges of civilization.

Edit: Now, the UC job is in the Midwest, so it might be a possibility for Fleck, if the drunken fan theory is correct.

I don't think Fleck's even on Oregon's radar-they are looking at more prominent candidates.

As of 3:00 pm today Fleck is still WMU's coach as he's about to be interviewed by ESPN.

As a UC fan, I would love to see Fleck to UC, but I don't think he would take the job.

If he does, it would just be so that he can use UC as a 2-3 year stepping stone before moving on again.

I'd be OK with that honestly. If he moves on after 2-3 years that means they are winning 75%+ of their games and maybe even better. The cupboard is not bare and a coach like Fleck could get more out of the team than TT could ever dream of.

I hope Fleck doesn't end up at Purdue. 7-5 or 8-4 would be a dream season there the way things have gone. Would rather see him go to a team that is maybe underachieving but isn't so far down in the gutter. Why row the boat if they prefer things that run on steam boilers?

I've talked to other UC fans who would be fine with that as well. If they aren't going to be in a Big 12 conference, they are fine with being a stepping stone as long as it turns out in the favor and they don't get years like Tuberville had.

UC is one of those jobs that is the one between the MAC and an elite program. Two coaches that used this path are Urban Meyer (Utah) and Brian Kelly (UC). Purdue seems like a horrible choice for a young coach like Fleck. I just do not see how anyone can consistently win at Purdue.

When was Urban Meyer at UC? As an assistant coach? His head coaching route, I think, from memory was BGSU-Utah-Florida-O$U. I apparently missed the stop in the Queen City altogether.

Sorry, I see that I missed your point. You are saying that Utah was like UC in that it was at the time a non-P5 school similar to UC.

No offense to Cincy, but if I'm Fleck I'd stay at WMU. He's been recruiting at a clip as good as Cincy and from what I've heard up north here is that Stryker Corp. has essentially said he ain't gonna be leaving because of money. That much I can tell you from here.

Whatever one thinks of the Bearcats and their on again off again dalliances with the Big 12, it is still seen as a launching pad to bigger and better things. For one thing there is a large media market covering the team, not to mention bigger paychecks. One need only look at the three previous coaches (Dantonio, Kelly and Jones) before Coach Tuberville.

If Cincinnati is his only 'big' opportunity, I might just stay put until something bigger comes along.

UC has had a few good years in the recent past, but has now been passed up by half of the members of a non-power-5 conference. And the recent good years just mean the fans won't easily be satisfied. He's already ruling a non-power-5 conference. Not sure I see any great reason to go to UC.

However if it's all financial, I don't blame him a bit.

If we ever had a MAC coach that would stay and build something, it would be something to behold. I always thought Toledo had the best chance, due to their history and media market. Unfortunately, the Cincy media market blows away Toledo's, not to mention the pay associated with the perks that come in a Top 30 Market. I still think the Big 12 will eventually realize they need another top media market outside Texas, let alone a team close to West Virginia. We shall see!

According to this link, it seems P.J Fleck isn't interested in the Cincy job, only Power 5 jobs. It seems Western Michigan is trying to up P.J Fleck's $800,000 yearly contract in an attempt to get him to stay. Could this be the first $1,000,000 MAC Head Coach?

Wow, how things have changed. I remember when I was high school teacher and coach sometime in the late 80s or early 90s and a fellow high school coach was talked out of taking a MAC assistant coach job by another coach. The reason being; it seems my colleague would make more teaching and coaching in high school than in a MAC school. How things have changed!

UC gets another coach that starts with an "F" and has a "ck" in his name -- Luke Fickell.

Why is Fickell a hot commodity? Didn't OSU fans want his head after his lone 6-7 season? I don't care if he was coaching after Tressel and had Tatoogate to deal with. He still had top-notch recruits.

Bobcat 1998 that is the $1,000,000 question! Coach Urban Meyer didn't let Coach Fickell ever completely take the reins of the defense. Buckeye fans whom I know have vastly different perspectives concerning Luke Fickell. From what I am told, Fickell never wanted to leave Columbus unless it meant coming back to someday coach when Urban Meyer left. He knew he would never be given the job unless he proved his heft somewhere else, and Cincinnati is close.

I can't figure out if Cincy ever tried to truly reach out to Coach PJ Fleck or not. This Fickell hire seemed to come out of the blue. Whatever the case, it has helped PJ Fleck's agent make more demands on the Broncos. I can't imagine Coach Fickell taking less than Coach Tuberville's $2,000,00 salary. PJ Fleck's waiting has certainly enriched his pockets.
