There's lots more advantages at Cal for Chip Kelly than just the housing aspect.
-He recruited California heavily while at Oregon.
-He knows the conference.
-Dykes was coaching a version of the spread, stands to reason that Kelly could succeed there quicker than a total 180 of the program.
-Expectations a lot lower in Berkeley than Eugene, though the academic portion would be vastly different.
I think the timing of the Kelly firing and the timing of the Dykes firing have to be linked. It could be just an amazing coincidence but I think it's really late in the game do be doing this, especially after most of the talent has dried up other than Les Miles and Kelly. So I have to think they have some plan in place. Or they could just be really ticked off about him flirting to leave last year and interviewing for the Baylor job this year. Dykes dug his own grave.
Downside: Cal has admission standards
