Let me get this straight...osu, who can't throw the the ball with their starter, has a 4th string grad transfer and we want him?

I believe he and Zaire could apply for medical redshirts. I believe Burrow and Collier are better passers than JT. Urban hasn't developed a good NFL QB since Alex Smith.

You would have no clue on the granting of a 6th year until after the completion of eligibility.the NCAA has gotten more lienent over the past few years on 6th years.

I'm not understanding all of these hopes and wishes for all these transfers to come to Ohio. Are people wanting Ohio to knock Akron of its perch? First people dig at Akron for all of their transfers, then hope for them themselves? Speaking of which, how have all of those transfers panned out for Akron in recent years anyway? Not very well. Akron's become a graveyard for many of them and they've had very little impact. Many of them were band aids that couldn't stop the bleeding.

Some believe that the staff's failure (inability?) to recruit and develop a high quality QB is what prevents the program from taking the next step. We shall see.

I make a distinction between "next year" and "years to come". If the situation at QB is improving, that doesn't mean it is instantly cured. Yes, let's say that Maxwell works all spring and summer and by fall he is playing like Big Ben, and that in the next three years he never gets hurt. Then, yes, there is no need for transfers. Let's say that Rourke comes in and he's the next Johnny Manziel (at the college level), and again, he never gets hurt. Again, we don't need a transfer. The same goes for Keszei, or if Duckworth suddenly surges to the top.

It doesn't always work that way, however. More than likely Keszei will redshirt next year. It's possible that Duckworth will never gel into starter material. That gets you down to two quarterbacks competing for the starting job, Maxwell and Rourke, both of which may need another year of development time, or both of which might get hurt.

I, for one, like to see at least 3 quarterbacks in the running for the starting job, just in case. If a transfer is added this year, that gives you 3 players, Maxwell, Rourke, and the transfer. Then the following year you have Maxwell, Rourke, and Keszei. If they keep adding quality recruits, and the players they have keep developing, then the situation MAY be fine for many "years to come". As for "next year", I personally feel like a little extra depth will be a good thing.

We also have a higher number of JUCO's this year than normal.
