Reading Springsteen's book and just got to the chapter "The Irish" and got an OU football tip. Too coincidental.

He skipped mine, apparently he heard what I said about Solich and it didn't go over well. Solich and him must have a pretty good deal together considering they were around when the light bulb was invented.

It's all good. Was meaning it to actually be a light-hearted joke

I just learned subtlety in humor just will not work here.

Absolutely loved his book.
Only "problem" you have to read it slowly to pick up all the subtleties.

What I found interesting is how well he writes.
According to the news out here he wrote it himself.

For those of us who spent our summers going to the Jersey Shore, the early chapters were like "yea,I remember that place or doing that".

FYI:Bruce is selling CD's of all the shows from last tour on his website.
I got the three concert set from Metlife.
Amazing !

B to B - my comment was directed at ytown. I thought your little joke was pretty funny and in good taste.

I am in Toronto today. Had the breakfast wrap and a medium black coffee from Tim Horton's. I think we can expect Alan to Give us a Tim Horton story which features Alan.

Don't have one of those and have never been to Toronto. I guess you don't care for OCF's stories about the Civil War and his connections to it, or Borna's Indiana basketball stories and his varied experiences through the years, or RP's New Jersey stories either.

I love the other stories partly because they don't make themselves the central character.

History, or Fiction, rather than biographical is your thing then?

This board would be a lot more friendly and congenial if people could simply ignore things that don't interest them. I may not find this topic fascinating (though it might beat discussing the finer points of Urbana's defense) but your personal attacks have raised its prominence and brought out a bit of unwelcome ugliness.

If you don't care about Alan's latest reading, move on. No need to spread bile here, especially since it's so plentiful elsewhere online.

Thanks RJ. In rereading my original post, in an effort to be somewhat coy, I didn't convey a very good description of what I was teasing people with. Yes, I am reading that book and at the precise moment that I got to the chapter called the Irish, I received a text tip related to OU football and a certain "Irishman." It was just too coincidental.
