I saw on Twitter from Athens News that Irons was arrested after crashing his car while intoxicated and fleeing the scene. I think about second chances all the time but it may be time for this kid to move on and get his act together. And along with Belack and Noel it seems Franks young kids are getting a little crazy.

The Belack strory is bizarre to say the least. I had to take notes. This sounds on the surface to be pretty cut and dry. The Spring should be interesting at RB, pretty thin.

On the bright side: At least he wasn't naked while video taping others on the Baker Center elevator.

He has already had his "second chance" and I think he's unlikely to get a third one. I think he's going to get kicked off the team. The good news is that it opens up another scholarship for next year! ;-)

I'd be surprised if he's gone.

And only confusing thing about the Belack case is the penalty. They were caught in the act, two were given sweetheart deals while one looks to still be hanging in the wind. Even local officials have questioned the treatment of the two.

I'm disappointed Irons got caught. He couldn't even out run the Athens PD. My eye test tells me he is fast and can square his shoulders and bowl over people as well. It must have been their first team unit, as I've seen him run all over the third team.

My guess is he is suspended from team for spring. Back in uniform come summer/fall. But the lost time will set him well back on the depth chart - never above 3rd string.

It seems like January-February is when this kind of thing historically has happened. Let's hope this is a wake-up call to the rest of the team, and there are no more incidents this winter.

He was outrunning the cops until he clipped a tree and came up with another leg issue.

I take it he was drunk. Maybe a medi approached him and told him certain people should start forever. Who Knows? The kid was wrong.

Good one..funny.

I previously posted that I don't hold this coaching staff responsible for the behavior issues as they've been small and/or minor and a coach cannot control everything.

I change my mind. This is getting to be too much. Those who posted the other day about how the main goal of the program is education--how are these recent incidents proving that the education function is on track?

It also occurs that this staff has no coaching tree. No one of note (right??) has grown out of this program to achieve notably as a coach. No school has found anyone on our staff to be a likely 'comer' and wooed that seemingly talented coach away.

It's just a stale staff that's not going to bring us any better.

History and the facts keep proving me right.

I know that makes the core SFB angry. Getting angry at me will not prove that I'm wrong and will not improve the program or get us a MACC.

Pitt was a signature win. Penn State was a nice victory. But this staff cannot get it done when it's most meaningful.

I hope Ohio never wins a MACC because I'd miss you jumping on here spinning everything about anything around to a MACC. First I used to get annoyed about it, but now, it has become downright amusing and enjoyable for me.

Good point.

MACC is not the goal. And who's on or off the team because of incidents has nothing to do with team performance.

Nice work.

Similarly, I almost voted for Trump because of Monroe. Almost. The point being, just like Monroe has you rooting against Ohio winning the MACC, his repetitive drivel was the only thing I can think of that could possibly influence me to contemplate any positives in a Trump presidency.

Maybe you don't remember when former assistant Derek Mason was named HC at Vanderbilt and took a bunch of our assistants with him.

Gdowski, Grooms, and Lightner all went on to Vanderbilt.

Purdue DC Ross Els is also a former coach of ours: http://www.purduesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/ross_els_...

You can add former Florida Atlantic HC Carl Pelini to the list as well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Pelini
(He has since taken a turn down hill, but at one time was up-and-coming)

That is 6 former assistants under Frank Solich that ended up moving up the ladder. Now I am sure you will come back and say we should have more, or none of them are at great jobs or something, but to say no coaches have ever moved up is 100% false.

He usually just selectively picks data to support his argument. In doing so, he's usually only 85 percent wrong. I'm really glad to see that he's upping his game!

Anyway, back to Irons. Coaches can only do so much. They can't control what the kids do 24/7. Irons has to take responsibility for his actions. He's had one chance already, so Solich would be justified to cut him loose. He should at least be suspended for the first two or three games next year. He needs to make up his mind about whether he's serious about playing ball for Ohio.
