New angle. Fleck to Minnesota as they fired their coach over his "unhelpful" remarks about the player boycott. FootballScoop says not going to happen for what that's worth.

Man. Brutal situation for him. I don't think he should have been fired. Administrations already seem to think coaches have 100% control of their players. But, his players sure were not Boy Scouts.

I doubt Minnesota would want to go the MAC route again (Kill). Chip Kelly would really shake things up in that division.

PJ and Claeys were on the NIU staff together for two or three years under Kill and I imagine are friends. I don't think this is a fit.

It was plain and simple - in some people's minds he came down on the wrong side of sexual harassment. That will cost you your job everyday.

Minnesota is a mess. If anyone takes that job, they better acknowledge the AD and University President that hired them will be gone in about 2 years. I'll save ya the guesswork, essentially he'll be auditioning for the new AD with maybe one year before they want to bring in their chosen guy. It gets annoying to say the least.

It was plain and simple - in some people's minds he came down on the wrong side of sexual harassment. That will cost you your job everyday.
Well it's either side with your players and keep their trust or not side with them at all, lose the faith of the locker room, and then get fired because the players mutiny against you which make you look worse and ultimately get fired within the next year or two or heck, even be asked to resign right on the spot because you "lost the locker room." That coach was put in a no-win situation and would love to see someone else handle that situation differently. I say it like this, if you knew your employee was innocent and had a situation occur, would you side with him or sell him out?

Well, this is definitely true. And, hard to disagree with. The more I think about it the more I like that the Minnesota President basically told the players that their behavior was deplorable and unacceptable regardless of whether charges were filed.

I liked what Kill did there I just think it's rare a school goes back to the same well again for coaching talent. And as someone else mentioned Fleck and Claeys are connected.

He is one heck of a motivator and his recruiting prowess is off the chart. It will be interesting to see if he can keep that up at the next level. I think he will.

He took the wrong job, he won't be able to get the kids he needs to win the B1G

It's always possible, but I think the only person that ever coached there and moved on was Lou Holtz, who put in two years there.
