The MAC hasn't won a single bowl game. We need a Western Michigan win to salvage some self respect. I fear otherwise we will be subjected to the mantra that we don't belong and or we are below the American, CUSA, Sun Belt etc. Needless to say, this doesn't help recruiting. Come on Broncos, we need you!

If you base the conference's worth on the basis of a minimal subset of made for TV exhibitions, you're in error.

Try giving that egghead response to football recruits and potential coaching hires.

I have yet to see a tweet reading, "Blessed to receive my 11th offer from the University of Ohio, but the Dollar General Bowl was trash."

So losing every bowl game makes no difference? Competition, winning and not losing is what drives athletes. They could care less if the games were organized by the NCAA, techy nerds at MIT, or the Ziegfield Follies, it's all about competing, winning and not losing.

Losing every bowl game won't partic hurt recruiting but it does somewhat speak to the quality of MAC ball.

WMU played a fine game. My only two beefs:

1) WMU gets ball down 17-7 with about 30 seconds to go in the first half and lets clock run out. Ohio did about the same thing in its bowl vs. Troy, down 21=17. But WMU was set to receive he 2nd half kickoff, Ohio wasn't.

1) Who was it who faulted OHIO's lack of clock urgency/hurry-up over the last 10 minutes of the game...as the 'nouncers did repeatedly for WMU taking about 7 minutes to score a td upon taking possession with about 11 minutes to go and down 24-10?

One has to admit, an 0-6 bowl record is not a good look for the MAC nor does it do a lot for its football reputation.

Especially when Sun Belt went 4-2.

Yes and I am afraid after the MAC and the Big Ten's bowl record we are going to be in for some insufferable commentary about how the SEC, PAC 12 and even the Sun Belt (in the non-Power 5) is so superior to football in the Midwest and all other sectors of the country. With apologies to Michael Corleone, just when we thought we were out, they pull us back into the football doghouse!

Honestly, who even knows that? In how many of those games was the MAC team favored and wound up losing to an underdog? More over, in how many of those games did an underdog MAC team give the favored team more than they wanted? In the games I saw, Ohio & Western, neither team really hurt their reputation with anyone who was really watching. JMHO.

Uhh a lot of people keep track of conference bowl records. You think the Big 12, SEC, PAC 12 or ACC isn't going to remind all those Big Ten recruits, "hey, the Big Ten East Division went 0-5 in bowl games, so why would you wanna play there?"

I'm sure it happens in the MAC, Sun Belt and everywhere else too. What if Ohio is fighting an AAC team for a recruit and they toss out the bowl game numbers?

Fine, that was all good, now about the projected damage to reputation? In how many games were the MAC team favored and which teams lost to an underdog? So which teams embarrassed themselves against some inferior opponent?

I don't think it has anything to do with losing to inferior opponents, but it has a lot to do with losing to your peers who you would like to measure yourself against. If you continuously and consistently lose to peer programs on a regular basis, then that doesn't look good for your program.

At a minimum, pulling an oh-fear certainly doesn't ENHANCE the MAC's football reputation. EMU losing to a school that didn't even field an FBS team several years ago doesn't advance the MAC's reputation.
