I would rather have the boringly consistent bowl eligible teams we've had than the constant turmoil other MAC schools have had due to coaching changes because they have one or two good years and the coach bolts to a better job. Yes, I want a MAC championship, and I think it will come. But I don't want Ohio to be the dregs of the MAC nine years out of ten like Fiami/Kent/Buffalo have been. BG had three really good years with Babers, then looked like cowpies last year after he left. They might recover this year, but they might not. Ohio is tough, competitive and a team to be reckoned with year in and year out. There's nothing wrong with that.
I would rather have the MAC championships. Buffalo has one for crying out loud.
That was nine years ago. Since then they've had ONE winning season and eight losing seasons. Overall they're 35-61, 23-40 in the MAC. And last year they lost at home to ALBANY. By all means, let's have a program like that.
No let's just be respectable. The moral victories are better than the real thing. Hey let's never win, at least we gave them a fight. The players can go on to say, we once went to a conference championship.
Do you see the phrase "moral victory" in anything I wrote? That's your term, not mine. Don't attribute your opinions to me. Ohio's been a damn good program the past 12 years, despite what anybody thinks.
If I had a couple of fifth's, I could talk myself into believing that. I love Ohio, we have improved under Solich. has it been an unremarkable 12 years, heck no.
