Tonight should be the night for Basham. I expect him to go in the first hour.
And to think one very prolific poster on BA (believe he's now approaching the elusive 10,000 mark) once told me that I was being totally unrealistic in thinking Basham had a chance of sniffing the NFL. I was told that Basham did not have an NFL body, and that there was no way he'd ever play at the next level. This poster told me that Basham didn't pass his NFL eye test, or words to that effect. I, however, was using the "ear test," and what better name for an NFL defensive pass rusher than "bash 'em!" ;-)
And since we've never won a MACC that should make him un-draftable per our esteemed Bobcat football expert! :)

NFL Network has Basham #51 and Blair Brown #99. That pegs Basham right in the middle of the 2nd round and Blair borderline 3rd/4th round. Where they are picked depends on franchise needs of course.

As a totally different view, Gil Brandt has Basham at #127, and Brown not in his top 150.

Pick #51 has come and gone so Basham is overdue on the draft board list, not that it means much that far down the board.

Former Ohio DE Tarell Basham headed to the Colts. Basham is a solid edge rusher, good pick for Indy.

Tarell Basham has been selected by the Indianapolis Colts with the 80th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

I'll go first:

Tarell Basham will be pick #80 (15th pick of the 3rd round) which right now is Indianapolis

Blair Brown will be pick #140 (tail-end of the 4th round) which right now is the New York Giants

Casey Sayles and Sebastian Smith sign UFA contracts and stick on with teams through training camp.
Dude...You nailed the first one!

Congrats to Basham. May you have a long and successful career, with few injuries.

...But, again, the MAC averages having about 8 guys drafted a year. Does it make sense that OHIO is going to have a couple every year...especially when this team can't get a MACC (perhaps by dominating on defense?), which mean that there are better teams in the MAC...and, so, players from the other 11 MAC teams which will take some of those eight MAC draft slots per year....

Of course other teams will have players drafted. Note that Ohio had pick #80, and will probably have another player picked about #140 or so. Meanwhile WMU had pick #5 and pick #64 so far, while Toledo has #86. Going solely by the NFL draft, you might think that WMU should have won the MAC, and Ohio should have been second, with Toledo third. Oh wait, nvm, that's what happened...

Chiefs traded up to #86 to grab Kareem Hunt. 4th MAC player of the draft.

I hate to say it but buckeyes have served us well in the field. I also got served fries by a buckeye grad at the drive thru yesterday.

Traded up for DE but not our man. Shame panthers and bobcats have meshed well in past. Mitchell and Bynum most of all

Was hoping Basham would end up in Detroit.....could have the best of best worlds.....instead we're drafting Gators, why? Idk....but regardless, it was a pleasure knowing that I once got dragged out of my seat by Basham in the name of good comedy.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsqkst3KDJ8

Forgot about this clip; thanks for posting it. Drake with a great droll performance, too. I guess that part about you losing to an old man in a game of PIGS was left on the cutting room floor?

Toledo has a second guy with 4th round, 127th pick. That makes it 2 for UT, 2 for WMU and 1 each from NIU and Ohio so far. Blair Brown is overdue, could have gone in the third round.

Interesting that both Toledo players drafted had connections to Ohio. Roberts actually committed and could not get enrolled because of grades. I had heard that Hunt wanted to come here but would not have been able to get in. Apparently, our academic standards give coaches a challenge. There is an interesting thread on the basketball page about Groce and how it will be easier for him to recruit in Akron than it was at Ohio.

Let's hope to see Casey go in the 6th or 7th round, praying for a run on DT's.

Explain to me how Brown should have gone in the third round.

That's nonsense to me. The NFL misses on guys, sure. But they put a helluva lot of research into drafting. Brown went where he should have gone as certainly as the person who gets the most votes (direct or electoral) wins an election or the team with the most points wins a football game.

Sometimes...no MACC for 12 years in a 12/13 team league...facts are facts.

Got any stock picks?

You did a marvelous job with those projections on Basham and Brown.
