I did my Sociology 101 journal review paper freshman year on this very subject. Not football related, but the relationships of blacks on predominantly white campuses.

Exact way I felt. OU does a great job with leadership councils that if anyone feels out of place or uncomfortable....there are platforms to address issues and an obligation or responsibility to correct it. To be honest, growing up and playing ball in Kentucky against racist high schools or coaches like Marshall county KY prepared me very well. Things like that dont happen to often in college because of coaches and players expectations of winning and academics supercede that. I fell in love with the campus which was better than Nebraska Cincy Arkansas and Kentucky. If players come see the campus and fall in love eith the school......lack of diversity will not stop a competitive athlete. Great article!

Interesting quote from the article:

“On weekends, I’m never here in Athens,” Hagan said. “I just leave. I either go to Columbus or go to Cleveland with my fraternity brothers.”
