I honestly could care less. This whole thing seems to have been much ado about nothing.
Meanwhile....back at the ranch....Frank is putting together one of his best ever classes.
FWIW...

Rivals ranks Ohio #9 in the MAC....and the only MAC school without a 3-star.

They don't seem too impressed with Ohio haul
Similar from Scout...9th in MAC...114th nationally. Three 3-stars.

247 Sports...8th MAC...108th nationally...Seven 3-stars

Adding Coleman, Harris and Kitrell today was huge a was big shot in the arm for this class. Without them, yeah, sort of an average class. But with them, that trio gives Ohio a pretty damn good one. Those three were big gets for Ohio, especially late like that.

This was a class to address needs and quite frankly they've done a pretty good job of it. 24/7 has Marshall ranked 1 spot above us at #106 and Temple below at #112. My biggest takeaway is that our peers in the MAC East didn't sign nearly the Oline we were able to. Buffalo only one OL and Miami 2. They are getting the ratings in the recruiting rankings for taking the best available player and not as much for need. Kent loaded up on unrated lineman. Ohio is going to continue to have the best line in the MAC East.

Rivals is the most useless of the recruiting websites for non-power 5 teams at this point. It only tracks recruiting from four schools in the MAC (WMU, CMU, Toledo and Kent). Here are their supposed rankings: https://n.rivals.com/team_rankings/2016/midam
It shows Ohio with 23 players, which is incorrect. There is no Ohio team page to see who they include. I assume other schools have incorrect info.

If you go back, there was never any reason to think it was a transfer. I'm not sure how the rumor got started. A couple coaches being excited on Twitter? That happens for every recruit. I think it was a case of wishful thinking on our part.

In terms of these ranking services, sometimes you have to sit down and look at the past to get an understanding of the level of accuracy they have. I posted this over on the recruiting thread, but I thought it might be worth re-posting it on the main forum. Here is a look back at 2013, when Ohio had three 3-star recruits and a host of unrated recruits. How have the recruits from 2013 panned out over time?

Here is who they are:
3-star recruits: Murdock, Wyatt, and Quallen
High 2-star recruits: Morgan, D. Brown, C. Brown, Porter, Sayles, Alexander
Low 2-star recruits: J. Brown, Aloese, McLeod
Unrated: Poling, Leavitt, Smart, Mangen, Basham, Wood, Cope

Now let's score them, and see the correlation between the prediction, and how they have actually worked out. As a scoring system, let's give 5 points for a player with all-MAC honors, 4 for a starter, 3 points for a second team player, 2 for an occasional player, and 1 for a player that never played, and ignore non-qualifiers. Here is what I get:
3-star players: 1,1,2 (average 1.33)
high 2-star players: 3,3,1,3,5,1 (average 2.67)
low 2-star players: 3, 3, 4 (average 3.33)
unrated players: 5, na, 3, 4, 5, 4, 4 (average 4.16)

Yep, that's right. There is a perfect inverse correlation. The higher the rating, the less likely they have contributed. These ratings are fun to follow, but please try not to take them too seriously.

Seriously? You do not know how the rumor got started? And those tweets were in the manner of being done deals. Overly excited? Yes! But also still may happen as the young man in question has still not declared where they are taking their talents.

Woo, new life for the thread. Maybe it can hit 20 pages. Maybe there are some men in black involved? Or Russian hackers?

Is this young man transgendered, or is he a Siamese twin? Inquiring minds want to know. Perhaps, the reason for the delay is figuring out the locker room requirements in Peden or ordering the special uniform with four legs and four sleeves. ;-)

All the other pages were just alternative facts...just like the Titanic didn't sink....it had an alternative docking.

He would have been on campus for the start of Spring Semester, however, the department learned that it could not send a shuttle to pick him up due to NCAA restrictions. So we all must now wait.

Former 4 star player out of Detroit. In 2013 he was the nations #1 fullback coming out of HS.

I don't know if he will be a locker room leader since he will only have been here for one year. He could probably be a third down tight end or a backer. Poling is not going to say, you come from Michigan so you can lead our locker room.
