Honestly? Who cares. Dude made his decision and everything we've learned since makes me pretty confident it's best for Ohio University and Tim Albin.

Win win.

I've seen almost identical figures somewhere else, and it's not what was originally reported. If Albin knew how to play his cards better, he could have had a better deal at OHIO. I agree, though, with BLSS, I think OHIO is actually going to be better off, at least in the short term, with Smith.

I think you're right when you say in the short term. I think if Albin would've gotten a deal done, he would've been around for the long haul.

I'm worried if Smith sees success, he'll bolt as quickly as he got hired on.

Truth is any success we have is a good thing, and it will likely lead to bigger and better opportunities for the coach. We just don't compete at that level. Never have. We're a great G5 program. We just have to hope we find ourselves in that position that we're winning so much the coach is getting bombarded with offers. It never feels good to lose a coach for any reason, but if we're losing coaches because they're winning too much...

I can live with that. Next man up.

*edit*

To add on, whom do we think is the worst P5 team? Purdue? Maryland?

Purdue - Odom, avg of $6.5M per season. Just signed a $39M contract.
Maryland - Locksley, $6.1M per season. $7M if they win 7 games.

The amount of money is obscene. That is like 30% of our entire athletic budget.

That's insane. So basically we need to charge a premium as conference champions and bowl winners to enhance these P4 Out-of-Conference schedules.

And not to get BLove going, why don’t someone check out what we are getting to play WVU 3x.

I would imagine we are only getting one buyout. the home and home is a wash. So it's way different than going there 3x.

Doesn't being a good G5 school make us less attractive? We aren't good enough to actually have a positive impact on their strength of schedule and the committee isn't going to consider us a good win either way. So wouldn't we be less attractive than a worse G5 team?

If you know how it's structured why ask other people to find the information instead of just sharing it yourself?

That's his MO. Act like he has inside information without ever sharing it. Then, when someone does share inside information, he agrees as though he was already aware. Guess that makes him feel more important. I've never understood it.

Bingo.

On top of that, we're a good team that doesn't travel well. Double ouch.

Do you think UND is regretting that they played, and lost to, NIU?

Exactly. Also, if he were to share the information it would prevent him from doing his favorite thing - telling people they are wrong. This must be protected at all costs.
