As a lazy Bobcat I was wondering if anyone had OUr defectors from this past year's final stats? I ask after seeing Keye Thompson had zero stats against Toledo. Combined with Sieh's lack of carries I hope those 2 in particular appreciate their NIL money because NFL would have come calling for Keye after an 11-3 season alongside Leake and Shay!!

Here are just a few. Will add more:

Sieh Bangura:

Tyler Foster:
https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4570286...

Keye Thompson: https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4362317...

Miles Cross:
https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4685230...

Jacoby Jones:
https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/5083297...

Tyler Walton (no EMU stats; still shows Bobcats): https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4362312...

Rayyan Buell:
https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/stats/_/id/5...

CJ Harris: https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4686788...

Torrie Cox Jr: https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4709783...

Shedrick Rhodes Jr: https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4608757...

Will Kacmarek: https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4880236...

Kurt Danneker (medically retired): https://www.on3.com/db/kurt-danneker-76181 /

If I'm the recruiting guy at Ohio, I would definitely use this as an example. Just keep it a 100% real with them. You could be a star in the MAC or a backup in the P4 unless your Kurtis.

If you don't see yourself going to the league and want to make money in the portal, by all means go get your coin. But these stats show the darkside of the portal. You could be a depth-piece only and stagnate your own momentum. Or take a chance on yourself.

Shay Taylor has the highest ranked Ohio player card ever in NCAA Football video game. It's a 92 overall (+1 higher than Katzenmoyer). Tank Pearson is 2nd with 91 overall. Pulled both out of packs and was very excited!

Thanks. Jacoby had a decent year but would have LOVED playing in OUr offense!!

Only a few of the transfer portal guys last year panned out. However, many of those guys got paid way more than they could make in Athens. Do these players value playing time over getting paid? Some will take the cash and others want to actually be on the field for meaningful snaps.

If I had to guess, I would say the cash supersedes any risk of not playing. I guess I can't blame them because at the end of the day, they came to college with dreams to go pro and make money. Depends on the dollar amount but I doubt they have any regrets if they made a significant amount.

What’s the going rate for a 3rd string TE with no stats?

Some of you DRASTICALLY overestimate what kids are receiving.

The top is getting a lot. Anyone not viewed as a top player or has nfl potential is receiving smiles and whatever they can get through their own true NIL deals marketing a product.

“ For the smaller, so-called Group of Five conferences, which include Conference USA and the Mountain West, the new N.I.L. environment puts football championships even further out of reach. The average value of top 25 players at any position at schools such as Liberty (part of Conference USA) or Boise State (in the Mountain West) is just under $50,000.”

I agree that its overestimated but compared to $0, anything seems significant enough. Coupled with the sales pitch that they will get more "opportunity" and exposure, I would guess a lot of kids don't hesitate to sign only to find out later they got duped.

Our average for our Top 5 or 10 guys? I don't think we're playing in the sandbox much at all. I remember Boals throwing out some numbers, obviously a much smaller group of kids, but I wouldn't be shocked in Parker was seeing that $50K area next season. Last season? $0. I think much of the G5 is very much NIL as people expected it a few years ago where you were able to get paid if you could get paid. If Mr. Millers Chicken thought you were a good face of marketing. Here's $10K to post about some chicken. Not getting checks just to show up. I don't see a world where we can compete with that. People around here with money want their name on buildings - not under the table to pay Rourke $200K to stay.

This doesn't surprise me at all. When this all becomes less opaque, I suspect that we'll find that the rumors of amounts people talk about, and the money hitting bank accounts is wildly different.

I wouldn’t actually name an athlete if I was kidding, that would be flat out lying on my part. Been a couple years in the making, glad to see it finally happened. Boals is good friends with the BIG DOG of the family owned dealership and chooses todo his own business with them. Good deal for all involved and AJ is a great choice, great young man, and local athlete.

Kacmarek played well in the Rose Bowl. Didn't put up any numbers, but state doesn't throw to the TEs that much anyway. He was blocking well and definitely looked like he belonged.
