Only a few of the transfer portal guys last year panned out. However, many of those guys got paid way more than they could make in Athens. Do these players value playing time over getting paid? Some will take the cash and others want to actually be on the field for meaningful snaps.
If I had to guess, I would say the cash supersedes any risk of not playing. I guess I can't blame them because at the end of the day, they came to college with dreams to go pro and make money. Depends on the dollar amount but I doubt they have any regrets if they made a significant amount.
What’s the going rate for a 3rd string TE with no stats?
Some of you DRASTICALLY overestimate what kids are receiving.
The top is getting a lot. Anyone not viewed as a top player or has nfl potential is receiving smiles and whatever they can get through their own true NIL deals marketing a product.
“ For the smaller, so-called Group of Five conferences, which include Conference USA and the Mountain West, the new N.I.L. environment puts football championships even further out of reach. The average value of top 25 players at any position at schools such as Liberty (part of Conference USA) or Boise State (in the Mountain West) is just under $50,000.”
