Great news.

Curious to see the contract details, and wonder if it's similar to what Albin signed after Solich left, or if the program's relative success raised the floor a bit.

That would make him the lowest paid coach in the conference, pretty close to the entire country.

Let’s hope we didn’t pull that bullshit.

Now let's keep Hauser happy and retain some other assistants, then keep Parker, Williams, Hunt, Dennison, Eamonn and Hendricks from the portal offensively along with defensive players Doggette, Henderson, Adonis, Tank, Shay Taylor, Bowman, Walker, Weaver on defense and Spetic on special teams!

Great hire. Proper search.

Must've been a great experience for the players, getting the news while staying at a beautiful Orlando resort, going to practice and then getting a day to bond at Universal Studios! Quite a change from the bus ride from Detroit. Good for them.

+1000

It is especially good that it was done BEFORE the bowl game, because it makes it clear that they have confidence in him, and that his future does not depend on one specific game.

Best possible choice under the circumstances. I hope they left enough money in the kitty to give nice raises to all the assistants — putting them out of UNCC’s price range. Congrats Coach Smith!

This was the right choice all along. I'm glad they went through the process of talking with other candidates before making their decision.

Smith is well spoken and took our offense to another level down the stretch. It lets us have some continuity and keep our current culture in place to an extent.

Hopefully the timing gives the guys a boost on the field too. Would be great to finish off an 11-win season. Would be one of the truly special years in Ohio football history.

Has he put his pet dog up for adoption to avoid the temptation of it becoming a goat? A scape goat?

Exciting to have a new era of Bobcat Football. Best wishes Coach.

Great news. Now there is no other option other than to pummel JSU and cap off the most successful season in Ohio history.

Next item up for grabs is DON'T have a let down next season like the basketball team is having this season. They were supposed to be far and away the best in the MAC and that obviously is not the case.

Something tells me Sieh Bangura is coming back and we'll have another Wyglis/Owen clone catching passes next season.

Absolutely. I think Smith will have a fire lit and come out with something to prove. Now just need to see what damage the portal brings to the roster.

1. Would love Sieh back
2. Rodarte is going to be the Owen/Wiglusz, just wait. Dude showed some quick flashes this year.

This was great news I wasn't truly expecting today, or before the bowl game. Hopefully a good chunk of the staff will stay on and maintain the continuity and the direction of the program!
