I'm not sure what I'm more anxious about - how the team does - or the potential for bummer thread drifts all fall long........

CFN has done a better job with their previews in past years. No mention of Ouellette. Do like me and pre-order Phil Steele's magazine.

When the third best defensive player listed is a punter, I get a little nervous.

And I do like Evan Croutch at LB and feel like London Miller, jalen fox and kylan nelson will be solid in def backfield.

I thought that coming out of Spring, Popp was the starter at LB, and M. Williams and Ellis were the starters at CB?

Not impressed with CFN. They say if we beat BG and take down Fiami "a few years later" we should win the east this year. Click on the Ohio schedule breakdown and you get WMU. And they still include UMass among the MAC teams. Really sloppy.

Indeed. They still haven't fixed the links in the article, which still point to the WMU schedule, but based on the pattern, I was able to guess the URL for the Bobcats Schedule Breakdown. This page wasn't up a couple days ago, but is up now:

I think it's mostly one guy who does these previews, Pete Fiutak. He's usually pretty spot on with this analysis, although his research and grammar could use some work with the smaller programs.

Evan Croutch is leading for the Will spot right now with Cody Grilliot battling hard too. This is not fact. Just my opinion from what I've seen and heard. I think we will see a lot of Eric Popp and Dylan Conner in rotation this year. Both of them looked great this spring and got a lot of 1st team reps.

Thanks for the information. For whatever reason, Ohio never releases a depth chart until the one that shows up in the first set of Game Notes, which leaves everyone guessing. Sometimes Arkley will post his best guess, which is usually pretty close. Another place you can sometimes find an early depth chart that is close is here:
http://www.ourlads.com/ncaa-football-depth-charts/depth-c...

Where they get their info, I have no idea. It may come from Arkley. As of now the information there is just leftovers from last year with Seniors removed.

This is what they have listed on the site:
Best Ohio Defensive Player

LB Quentin Poling, Sr. – The team’s leading returning tackler, the 6-0, 235-pound veteran came up with 109 tackles with four sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss. Great at shooting into the backfield and solid in pass coverage, he can do a little bit of everything.

But that’s nothing new – he’s been doing it all for his entire career. Steady, he came up wth 14 tackles against Tennessee and 11 against Toledo, but he came through every week in the middle.

2. S Javon Hagan, Soph.
3. P Michael Farkas, Soph.
4. LB Chad Moore, Sr.
5. NT Cleon Aloese, Sr.

It's almost like they don't take our angst into consideration! Haha

Here is another link for you, this time to the preseason picks of a large number of publications (only 4 are up now, but in a month or so we'll seen many more):

This quote from the CFN preview sums it up perfectly...

"Ohio hasn’t been bad, and it hasn’t been special, it’s been … just okay."

.... and I'll just leave this here (another quote from the article)

The Ohio Season Will Be A Success If …

Ohio finally wins the MAC title.
