It has just been announced that this year's bowl game in Mobile will be on Saturday evening December 23 at 6 pm.

If the Cats return to the game this year, those fans who are pressed for time can fly in Saturday morning, and then fly back home Christmas Eve morning. Thus many will not have to take any vacation at all from work, and be back home well in time for Christmas Eve evening.

For those who want to be here for the pre-game festivities, they would only need to take one day vacation, fly in Thursday evening or Friday morning, and be here for the Mayor's Luncheon, and then the Mardi Gras Parade Friday evening. These are very neat events to attend.

Every Bobcat fan I met down here at last year's game said they really enjoyed the entire event and were really happy they made the trip to Mobile.

Still out of the question for me. Any time the week before and at least several days after Christmas is family time with my two daughters and their families visiting. The old original date for this bowl in January was ideal for me.

What if we throw in a free shuttle?

The problem is the MAC does not like to send the same team to a bowl site in back to back years. They tend to avoid it due to giving kids different cities and regions along with keeping fanbases interested.

That said, in my pipedream scenario, I would love to have a city we go to every year about the same date. Wish bowls would start doing that but I know that won't happen. Guess I can keep dreaming.

I appreciate the kind thought, but that wouldn't be enough. Just let my wife set the location and the date of the bowl game and everything would be A-OK?

What? No projected matchups yet? These guys are not as good as the basketball bracketologists who can already tell you who is playing in next year's Final Four! ;-)
