I read on OhioBobcats.com that Peden will have a new video board in time for next season! The release mentioned Sook and the new softball stands as well. No mention of the Convo video board.

Schaus has been announcing the new Peden board at the caravans. I think he said Convo the next year.

It will be nice to not need binoculars to see the video board.

Excited to see more details and renderings (hopefully) soon!

Hopeful that I won't be underwhelmed or disappointed, either!

Don't need something you would see at Jerry World but something that is easily viewable from any part of Peden would be nice!

I'm with you on being anxious to see what it will look like. I'm hopeful that some upgrades in balancing the sound/PA throughout the stadium can also be done.

Prediction: some will be underwhelmed by new scoreboard. In other words, not much of a step up from current scoreboard.

This is true. It's going to be the same size as the old one.

The size is fine. The better quality will make a big difference. Any bigger and Peden will look like Pharrell wearing the giant Arby's hat.

This is correct. Confirmed by some others in the Development office.

My prediction is that the scoreboard will be the same size. However the entire scoreboard will be a video screen vs. today where you have a low tech video screen between an even lower tech scoreboard.

I noticed the cost of the scoreboard is $1.85 million. That seems higher than the $750,000 that was previously mentioned.

The current board is 20x15 and smallest in FBS. If that wasn't bad enough the video board would be 12th smallest in FCS. Toledo's new board is 50 x 30 and biggest in the MAC. Stadium size of course is a factor in what's appropriate. Duke put in a 75x42 board (over 10 times the size of Peden scoreboard) and is the biggest for a smaller FBS stadium.

Charlotte has a 1 level stadium of 15,000 seats with a video board 4x larger than the one in Peden Stadium. What is in Peden is a very small board by any measurement. If the plan is to put a larger one on top of Sook in 5 years and this is a stop gap it should be explained.

All problems will be solved if the video board problem is addressed.

Oh. My bad. There are no problems with OHIO FOOTBALL.

Remember reading App State is putting a new one in for 2017 in a similarly sized stadium (around 24,000 capacity) that is much, much larger.

App State also has a much, much nicer venue to put it in, where football is clearly the leading sport.

They may be going with a smaller but higher resolution board. HD resolution is a factor in how good of a video board your putting in. The sound system I thought was modeled after the one Utah put in. Gone will be the makeshift audio system around the scoreboard replaced with something more professional.

Good to hear on the audio side of things. I'm looking forward to fall tailgating and fun in Peden!

I'm fine with a smallish video board that's higher resolution and brighter. We don't need some gawd-awful monstrosity blocking the beautiful view from our stands. It's OK if we have one of the smallest boards in FBS...because we have one of the most beautiful stadium locations in FBS (OK, so Colorado and AF Academy might top us a bit...). I just want to SEE the darn thing and I don't want to listen to that horrible audio for another season. If the money that could be spent on a larger board is invested in clearing some of the deferred maintenance on Peden, that would be a good balance in my book.
