Does anyone know what the record number of MAC draftees is in the NFL draft and is the 12 taken this year possibly it? Also, I can't imagine that Conference USA expected to be outdone by the MAC in the draft. In addition, I am sure the Big XII would rather not have anyone know that they only had a couple more draftees than the MAC.
Seeing these totals show me that while the top say 1/3 or so of P5 teams are good to great, the MAC is pretty darn close to the middle to back of these conferences.
Heck CMU only went 3-5 in the MAC but beat Okie State in Stillwater, Cats beat Kansas in Lawrence etc. I would have put Western up against anyone in the B12 last year and would have picked them over all but the Sooners.
Take away Oklahoma, arguably the Big 12 torchbearer the past few years, they have dip even more. Only 9 total beyond the Sooners.
-Only one Texas player shows you how low that program has been as of late
-No players drafted from Iowa State nor Kansas albeit they are the bottom rung of the conference
-Almost 1/3 of their draftees were not taken until the 7th round. While they are plenty diamonds in the rough
