I saw that he was listed on the roster for the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl but didn't see that he played? I saw some Ohio helmet stickers in the game. Any info on if he played? Or if he's injured?

I don't know if he played. Right now, he is being looked at as a late rounds pick, it will come down to his workout. http://www.rotoworld.com/recent/cfb/137229/blair-brown

Brown is number 2 on the hot prospect list on the right. He has better game grades than Boulware, but may go lower. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/probe.php?genpos=ILB...

If he stays healthy, I predict he is on a NFL roster on opening day 2017.

I found this inteview with him:
http://draftbreakdown.com/2017-nfl-draft-prospect-intervi... /

I was kind of curious what people at bobcatattack had to say about him when he was recruited, so I went back to look for his recruiting thread. There wasn't one. I can't even find a reference for when he first appeared on the roster. I guess he entered Ohio in stealth mode.

The interesting thing that all the Ohio draftees have in common is that not one was a highly sought after recruit:
Blair Brown: Entered the program in stealth mode. If we noticed him, we barely did. He was reported to have offers from Florida Atlantic and Indiana.
Basham: No other offers, and unrated by everyone, and unknown until signing day. Here's his recruiting thread:
http://www.bobcatattack.com/messageboard/topic.asp?FromPa...
TJ Carrie: Was unknown prior to signing day, unrated, with no other offers (no recruiting threads on him and the players that follow were before the great data loss)
Eric Herman: Unrated, but did have offers from BG, WMU, and Akron. He was known prior to signing day, and I still remember that there was some poster that was hostile to the offer to him, saying that he was terrible, and that there were much better prospects out there.
Brazill: Another signing day surprise, unrated, with no other offers
Mitchell and Cohen I don't know about.

The lesson here is this: Take the recruiting ratings with a grain of salt. They are much more accurate for schools at the top than schools at the bottom. Ratings correlate with a players chances at a place like OSU because the recruiting services spend a lot of time looking at their recruits. Ratings at a Ohio don't correlate at all because they spend very little time looking at them.

You're right L.C. Those stars and offers mean absolutely nothing. It's what you do when you play at any conference level

Wasn't there a story re Carrie? I thought he didn't play until he was a senior due to a medical problem, then bloomed late, ending by being MVP of the biggest schools title game in California.

So, started...and apparently ended..pretty much under the radar. A good get by us.

Yes, often with the late gets of under-the-radar players there is a story. For Carrie it was that he had to have a surgery to correct a medical issue. With Brazill it was that he wasn't allowed to play prior to his Senior season due to grades, and if I recall, he ended the season as the MVP of the Palm Beach County All-star game, ahead of a 5-star recruit or two. Some other very good players have come as a result of a position switch between their Junior and Senior season, from a position where they were meh, to a position where they excelled. If Maxwell turns out to be great in the end, his story will be that the played for a horrible team in a horrible conference.

Don't get me wrong, there have been some under-the-radar players who turned out to be not gems, too, and that was particularly true in the early years. In 2006, late names like Pete Reese, Cody Karr, or Pete D'Aguanno never contributed, but Marcellis Williamson certainly did. Others were great, but arrived with baggage, like Gary Fortune, who left due to grades, or Lorenzo Fisher who had off-the-field issues.

My point is that when, come signing day, you find names appearing on the list who weren't highly recruited, like Hagen Meservy, Julian Ross, or Tariq Drake, who knows, they may turn out to be the gems of the class when all is said and done. That's what makes watching recruiting at Ohio entertaining for me. If you could just look at the stars and know for sure where you stood, it would be pretty boring.

Pro Football Focus has Brown going #93 to Green Bay. Interestingly, they don't have Basham going in the first 3 rounds.

Pro football focus had him as a first team All-American, they said he only missed two tackles all season. They love BB, so does draft cobern. I must say that BB's tape is amazing.

This is great, Brown has the highest SPARQ rating for linebackers.

take with grain of salt...whole big chunk...when Garrett, DE Browns better take, is not listed as one of the top five at his position on the SPARQ rating list.

I gather that Garrett is considered far the best player available and the only guy who's thought going to immediately make an impact big.

Go Browns

Never said he wasn't very athletic. I did say -- and will stand by my statement -- that he sometimes did not use his head and he cost us some games by committing completely stupid penalties. If that makes me an animal, then so be it!

I don't know how you can say he "cost us games". A few of the Personal Fouls against him were very borderline calls. Football is a physical game. He is a gifted athlete who has a physical style of play.

Did you watch the Minnesota game? That was a STUPID penalty. Led directly to a Gopher TD. They were set to punt, before the taunting penalty gave Minnesota a first down and continued the TD drive.

We lost because of a dropped int and conservative play-calling. We won a game because of a forced fumble. He has had 3 penalties. We have another backer who is going to the NFL and he was suspended and you would never call him a bone head. 3 penalties (two that are questional) does not constitute a bone head. The scout say he is very smart, let's not demean him.

Brown is the 7 ILB up from number 9, for the record we had two players in the top 10 at their positions on defense. This article is about Brown, but features Oulette's helmet.
