Yes Please.

Oh how I wish this was the case when I was still going there.

I can't imagine this would do anything but raise money and keep people (upper class men anyway) around for the 3rd and 4th quarter.

I remember many games when we dipped out in the 4th because everyone was stone sober by then and wanted to head to the bars.

The first alcohol-related incident I have at Peden Stadium will be the last game I ever attend.

Would that include any extraordinary standing and cheering?

No, I'm talking about unruly fans, beer showers, inappropriate language, and things of that sort. I detest the NFL experience, and I don't want it in Athens.

Most of those things can happen with or without alcohol. Some of it comes with a passionate fan base, especially the inappropriate language part.

It's official

http://ohiobobcats.com/sports/fball/2017-18/releases/2017...

Of note:
There is an alcohol free section for those that desire
Stands on the student side will not carry it (so students that want it will have to walk around)

I'm interested to see how much revenue jumps as a result of this.

Probably a bunch....especially if they charge like they do at the state fair or ball games...$7-$9 a beer.

If an OU football game turns into an NFL experience then there are some insane changes that need to take place and beer is not even in the Top 5 of that list.

One additional change is that you cannot leave at halftime and come back in. That was in the last paragraph of the release.

The only unfortunate thing is that there were some, myself included, who would leave, and come back for the 110 post game show. Particularly for Homecoming.

For those of you who sit in the tower section, does this make that section less of a draw?

People have been saying for years that if we sold beer at games, students wouldn't leave at halftime...to which I always said bullcrap, they would still leave.

Can't wait to say I told you so in a month.

They may have to get creative and have a second half happy hour. ;-)

This is actually going to be unpopular with a lot of long time ticket holders I know. Seems like a solution in search of a problem. Oh well.

Alan -- no, this wouldn't make me change my Tower seats, which I had pre-beer sales. I'll keep them as long as I can afford to. The separate entrance/exit, quick access to concessions and bathrooms, and relief from cold/rain (Especially on Tuesday/Wednesday nights) are the main draw. (Of course, I'm crazy as I also have 4 other seats elsewhere... So I may not be a good judge of this....)

Cannot re-enter "with original ticket". If really want to go out and back in - plenty of cheapo tics to be had - or unused, etc. Add fodder to the "butts in the seats" jibber jabber though....

Actually - the thread name kinda cracks me up. Alcohol has been "coming to Peden" for decades! They are just going to get some of the $ from the sales of it now....

Tower keeps its edge with recreational marijuana. Call 1-800-575-CATS for details.

Awesome news. Hopefully they are appropriately priced, bring in more fans, and keep them in the stadium for longer. Additional revenue is good as well.

& LOL at the comment that said alcohol has been coming to Peden for decades. So true - I brought a flask with me to every game I attended.
