I've been to about 10 games or so since I graduated in 2009 but it's always been part of a weekend trip with friends where we hit the bars or hung out at the hotel before heading over to Peden. I bought season tickets this year and plan on making the best of the opportunity and buying into the gameday atmosphere. Are there any specific lots that are good for tailgating, or is it even permitted? I know they do the Tailgreat Park, but is there anything other people do in different lots I should plan on trying out? Thanks for any help people can provide.

If you have a parking pass, the best advice I can give is just to make sure you get to your lot early enough to park near a flat grassy spot.

If you don't have a parking pass, the area between Clippinger and the Aquatic Center is underrated, if you can find a flat spot that's not too muddy. Lots of shade and the 110 warms up right there.

Well there used to be this big white tent where sometimes up to 1100 people gathered for food and beverage and Bobcat fun all for $100 for all six games for your entire family. Oh the good old days. To quote Bruce Springsteen - "today I've got my music, you've got yours and the guy down the street's got his."

I always set up in the blue lot behind the Convo. It is totally underutilized.

Tailgating is pretty much allowed anywhere there is football parking, so find your favorite spot and enjoy.

Alan, the G&W setup was nice, but it wasn't for everyone. Many preferred traditional tailgating, which meant their own food, drink and music.

Agreed but for many who didn't want to or couldn't set up their own deal, it served the purpose. I still run into people who say "we sure miss those Green and White tailgates." What finally killed the organization was when the university required us to "serve" the beer and punch a card for each beer. We essentially became food service workers and the fun of the tailgating experience for the volunteers disappeared.

Since you bought the season tickets, the Bobcat Club is the way to go. You can set up in Tailgreat Park. We started setting up there about 7 years ago, and I prefer it to being in one of the other lots. (but to each his own) BTW, Wal-mart in Athens carries the Bobcats pop up tents.

How much are those pop-up tents? I've seen some online but they're like $175.

How much are those pop-up tents? I've seen some online but they're like $175.
I have a green 10x10 one, without logos, and it was about $50. Works out well for us.

I would recommend also becoming a Bobcat Club member to access greater parking options. And as others have said, get there earlier than an hour before gametime.

Something I like to do is to bring a couple growlers along to pop into Jackie O's for a fill before making lunch in a tailgate lot.

Mine is a 9X9 with the attack cat on two sides green and Black for $99.00.

So do several of the local restaurants and beer and wine purveyors. We were good enough customers that the wife of a local beer distributor delivered a van load of beer one Saturday morning because her husband was in Mexico on a trip and the student who was supposed to deliver the beer slept in. Oh those were the days.

Nice! Where did you score that if you don't mind me asking? I can't find an Ohio one anywhere for less than about $200.

If you just want a solid color pop up shelter you can get I believe up to a 10'x10' at any Dick's for maybe $60-$70. They are always on some kind of sale during the warmer months. Costco has a nice deal on NCAA popups but I've only seen OSU and UC around here.
