Arkley tweet yesterday said it starts in July. I would expect this to be a Surplus Sale for the history books.

Speaking of Surplus Sale, can anyone comment on some of the stuff they have had available in the past? Is it worth it?

You can get some cool stuff for a good deal if you're in line in time to not have all the good stuff taken ahead of you.

I've grabbed athletic shorts and warm-up pants in the past. Love them. You have to dig a little bit, though, to find the right sizes.

I snagged an Ohio Track jersey one year for a friend of mine who used to run cross country. He was appreciative.

One piece of advice is: don't hesitate if you're interested in something. If it's worth buying, it will be gone by the time you think about it.

I know Russell isn't glamorous, but our football uniforms have been consistently ranked high by various articles over the last few years. While it's nice having a major brand behind us with regard to more merchandise, I actually do not like the "Adidas style" for football uniforms. At least they won't have feathers like all the Adidas bird schools (EMU, BGSU to name a couple).

There was a mention on this week's Uni-Watch column where they stated they hoped our jersey stripes don't go the way of UCLA's: http://uniformcritics.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/2013...

I agree that the Russell gear has almost always looked great. I didn't care for the Halloween white or the "updated" black, but everything else says "College Football". I gather its partly a monetary issue, but I wonder if it could also be a performance issue. There has to be a reason why Russell doesn't have more schools.

I understand from reliable souses that the new contract includes a guarantee from Adidas that OHIO will win a MACC wearing their uniforms.

I agree with this post 100%. I have always liked the Russell uniforms, and I appreciate the classic "college" look that Ohio has had. I hope the new Adidas unis aren't "gimmicky", but I'm not optimistic.

There's an article in The Post that gives specifics of the Adidas contract.

Seems to be a decent arrangement.

Worse apparel for football. Cleats are only good for two or three games before threading comes loose. Can never break them in and wear them a full season or half a season. I understand the monetary decision behind it but they do not make great cleats. Atleast with Russell, players got to wear UnderArmour, Nike or Adidas if they wanted to. Why do we have an under armour store in Athens? Our marketing and branding is sometimes confusing at OU. Bookstores sell Nike gear.

Western Kentucky just announced they are dropping Russell for Nike, that leaves GaTech and SoMiss as the only RA teams in FBS.

This is not a good sign for Russell considering that they are located right there in Bowling Green, KY.

Not really, Russell does not do a core of business in athletic team apparel, and they are just refocusing their resources.

I hope it's good for the fans too. I'd love to walk into a store uptown and have half the choice of stylish attire that tosu fans have. Buying a Bobcat shirt in Athens today is like buying a dress that four other girls at the prom are wearing.
