Bad....real bad. Talk about low energy. And that exciting shot of the band! University commercials are always awful because they often let the faculty produce them and they are approved by committee.

Gotta shoot landscapes in the fall. Campus is beautiful, but absolutely slams in the fall.

They had nowhere to go but up after that "Bobcats just want to be Bobcats" commercial.

My vote: the best one I have seen in recent time but the others were so bad there was nowhere to go but up.

I wasn't overwhelmed by it but not necessarily embarrassed either.

The voiceover seems to be a mismatch. We're selling a university, not season tickets.

Agree on the 110 footage. Reminds me of when a couple does a slideshow at their rehearsal dinner and has to use a random, unflattering photo of someone they want to include because they have nothing better. I am sure there are hours of high quality footage of the 110 performing in archives on campus.

Did they go on tour in Paris? My first thought was Kings Island until I paid closer attention to the color of the Eiffel Tower.

The aerial footage was my favorite part.

Lou or Russ should be doing the narration. Preferably Lou.

We have Russ Eisenstein, who has a fantastic voice. Why didn't he do the voice-over? The information was fine, but was done in a pretty dull way. Do it like a pre-game intro, full of energy and excitement. I also agree about the band, that was about the most boring shot they could've included. Why not an action shot?

Not to beat a dead horse but "At Ohio" just sounds weird.

Your thoughts here are just plain weird, and so 1950s.

Last spring The 110 performed at Omaha Beach Memorial, Eiffel Tower and Disney Land Paris.

This. Who is that guy? He does sports promos for just about every station in ohio or every espn affiliate. Seemed really out of place for this ad.

Agreed. Why didn't we use a student from theater and drama?

Or any one of the students or 2 billion alumni from the Radio-TV school (Media Arts, or whatever they've called it through the years).

I get what they're trying to do. Other schools focus on academics and we've focused on student life and being a Bobcat. But this seemed more targeted toward grad students than next year's freshmen.

The promo starts off with "At Ohio we stand up" while showing students sitting on the grass. Is it just me or.....
I agree with others on here. It's low energy and not necessarily something that would entice me to come to Ohio if I were a high school senior. The awards and accolades are great to mention but The 110 got treated like the proverbial "red-headed stepchild".

Good points. I'm still trying to figure out who the target audience is for this piece.

It's an improvement in that now I feel nothing instead of cringe. That's a good point that it seems more aimed at grad students. I think it would have been more effective to see two or three students reading the same script instead of voice-over guy.

Most of these commercials aren't memorable anyway, but I loved this series we used to run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIg-39WaJxw

And for good measure, Boise State had the best commercial ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2FxM-OPqEY

I remember this same conversation a few years ago. Still. No one does it better than Oregon

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cNboYbN6wFY

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H2SkwR9QFC4

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dCgqsuzN9fM

The discussion then was to recruit the Ohio student who was making the vine videoes to get involved.

But instead.......

We have a strong Advertising program. I have to believe there are a half dozen graduates from the past 15 years that are working at good to great creative agencies that would lend their talents.

I voted "awesome" because, by comparison to the prior one, it is. I agree with most of the criticism here, that it could have been even better with more energy. I do like the "I am the promise" spots even better, and the Boise spot is good. I cringed at the Oregon spot though, and couldn't watch the whole thing. It was like the "we just want to be Bobcats" spot had been set to bad rap music.

Actually, this one's not bad at all. Perhaps, when some big donor gives us the $50-million to rebuild Peden, our clever students can come up with something similar.

"Most beautiful college campus on EARTH???" LMAO! Wow, it simply lost all credibility for me right there. Talk about excessive subjectivity. Yes it's a beautiful campus, but it's nowhere near the most beautiful on earth. Come on. Some would argue it's not even the most beautiful in the state of Ohio, let alone the Region or entire United States, and let's not even get started about the rest of the world. It was cheesy and actually somewhat embarrassing. Grade: D+

That one was at least entertaining, which is exactly what it was meant to be. It was also about one building on campus and not about the entire university.

This isn't an Ohio "commercial" but it still stands as my favorite Ohio video for comical purposes:
