Thought you folks would get a kick out of visiting this website that I just discovered. Put in any two FBS teams and you'll see a graphic display of their rivalry over time as well as some facts and figures about each school's program historically.

Here's the way it presents Ohio vs. Miami:

Great-I needed another thing to distract me!

Very neat website. Someone spent/spends a lot of time compiling all of this data!

That is cool.

Looking at all the results it's interesting that it really goes in cycles between us and Fiami. Not much back and forth from year to year.

I liked looking at blowout series to see how bad one team really is to another. Kentucky and Tennessee came to mind.

Vanderbilt used to own Tennessee. Then things like indoor plumbing and the assembly line came in vogue.

Very fun. In my quick research, I could find five teams that have won a national championship that OHIO has a victory against. One of those teams won 9 national championships, one won 6, two teams won 4, and another won just 1. OHIO holds a 3-2 overall record against one of the teams that has captured 4 national titles.

Can you guess any of the former national championship schools we have defeated?

Minnesota, Penn STate and Pitt for starters. I'm guessing the others are harder to come by.

Against whom could we be 3-2? that might be Kansas (?)

The 3-2 edge has to be Illinois, which has five. The 2006 Illinois team, in fairness, did not have Red Grange.

Kentucky claims they won the national championship in 1950 (but they really didn't) :

Similarly, Boston College claims the 1940 championship (but didn't really win it).

My pick for the other team is Columbia, which won the 1875 National Championship.

Columbia may be true as well, but using that site, it only lists current DI-A (or whatever current name is) teams. Illinois is the team we have a winning record against at 3-2 (they have 4 national championships according to that site). Minnesota (6 National Championships), Pitt (9 National Championships), and Penn State (4 National Championships...surprised this was that low) are three others.

There is one more school, a team we are 1-1 against.

Ah, that would be Maryland, then, which won the championship in 1953, back when championships were awarded before the bowl, which was important, as they lost in their bowl game.

As far as Illinois, they were the consensus champion in 1914,1919,1923, and 1927. In 1951 they were awarded the National Championship only by Boand. Boand, also known as the Azzi Rating systems, was a mathematical system used from 1930-60 which appeared in various newspapers. I presume it was an equivalent for that time to something like the Sagarin today.
